The Swap Shop Reputable Traders List and another topic here in Nuts & Bolts mention changes coming. Based on the age of the posts, it appears the changes never materialized. I'd like to make a suggestion for tracking buyers and sellers. I've seen this work on other boards and figured why not give it a try here.

1. Create a sub-forum in the Swap Shop call Users (or traders, swappers, etc.)
2. Each member gets one topic started and the title is their username.
3. After completing a transaction, buyers/sellers can add comments and feedback to that thread.
4. User links to the appropriate thread in their sig.

Instead of having to go through 130+ pages of the current list, each user gets their own feedback thread.

Thoughts? Any ideas why it wouldn't work?

Why can't you just use the search function instead of going through the list a page at a time?

The message at the top of the traders list states it's no longer being maintened. Switching to the system I suggested does not require any maintenance other thay occasional mod review like any other forum.

Linking to your feedback thread in the post makes it quick and easy for potential buyers and sellers to look at.

An individual feedback thread also allows buyers to comment on the accuracy of the description, packaging, shipping time, etc.

The Swap Shop says Dakka is not and never will be a trading site, but the reality is there is a lot of activity in the swap shop. Having a feedback system that is a little more formal will protect buyers and seller.

People can use Dakka to solicit trades but the site has no responsibility and does not want to take on any responsibility so far as I am aware regarding those trades themselves, including infrastructure that would seem to "protect" or in any other manner endorse or guarantee a trade. A thread started and maintained by users that tracks other users' reliability in trading is on one side of the line; the user side. Creating a sub-forum for supporting that kind of feedback is on the other side of the line. I agree that idea is a good one, however, if Dakka wanted to be that kind of site.
