Can you take the adamantium lance formation as an ally?

Why would you not be able to?

"There is no limit to the number of Detachments a Battle-forged army can include and you can use any mixture of Detachments you have available, within the restrictions the rules that follow."

"Formations are a special type of Detachment..."

I was just checking because it specifies a knight detachment as allies can have 1 - 3 knights, but does not mention formations of knights. Just wanted to be sure cause I would hate to cheat just because I did not check.

A Knight Detachment and the AdLance formation are separate kinds of detachments. The rules for Knight Detachments don't apply to AdLance

adlance formation is not an allied detachment.

so no, you cannot take adlance as a knight allies detachment.

Yea. You're getting confused because of the terminology. If your army consists of a Combined Arms Detachment and an Adamantium Lance, then you do not have an allied detachment.

To be fair, you cannot take a knight ally detachment anymore either. The only way to take Knights is in a Knight Detachment that consists of 1-3 Imperial Knights.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

There is an ally detachment, and then there is a Detachment which happens to contain allies. Knights are the latter, unless they're your primary detachment.

There are currently 3 ways to take Knights.

1) A Knight Detachment of 1-3 Knights.

2) Adamantium Lance.

3) a Forge World Knight in your own detachment's Lord of War slot.

A battle forged army is made up of 1 or more detachments, any detachments. Imperial Knights, Adamantium Lance, CAD, Nemesis Strike Force, etc...

That was not the question, so your post is irrelevant.

The OP asked whether an Adamantium Lance Formation can be taken as an ally, which of course it can. An Allied Detachment is something different entirely which nobody mentioned in this thread.

Another reason why the Allied Detachment needs to have a different name, like Auxiliary Detachment or something.

Thanks for the info, I assumed you could not but the allies within the Imperium have gotten to be such a cluster at this point I figured I would ask.

Yes, you can "ally" an Adlance Formation.

However it is a Formation and not an Allied Detachment, in case that brought any confusion.
