Hi

Am looking for a layering and shading chart for the new citadel paint range. I emailed games workshop and they said they did not distribute it but if I went in store that might share it with me. Not very helpful I'll admit but hey. I can't get in to a store for a while so does anyone have one or know a link to one?

May be a bit amateur but I'm colourblind so the layer colours don't always stand out to me. The chart they have in store is great... The one with all the base colours then simple shade and highlight to the left and more detailed shade and layering to the right. It showed all the examples on a space marine pack too. Might be asking for something that is unattainable but you never know!

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys! Hopefully someone will have it.

In one of art exam at school I painted a beautiful landscape with brown grass and leaves and tree trunks green with a purple sky... Haha

I'm going in store tomorrow, if they have one I'll get you a copy.
It may be a photograph, but I assume the names being legible is the main point of what you need?
I have a paint conversion chart for the old > new range also, if that is of any use.

Thanks Buttery

A photo is fine thank you so much! Let's hope they have a printed version if not a photo of the paint rack would be wonderful. Don't need the paint conversion chart as my good wife just bought me the new ultimate paint set... Why they can't just email me the chart I don't know!

Because it is very possibly printed in their "HOW TO PAINT LIKE US IF YOU BUY THIS" book.

It's in the Citadel painting guide (book) at the back. In defense of Xeones7, the relationships are not immediately obvious, but it's not like GW sticks with it, either.

For instance, the guide has a progression of Mephiston Red -> Carroburg Crimson (Wash) -> Evil Sunz Scarlet -> Wild Ryder Red -> Kindleflame

Yet, in most Paint Splatter types, the progression looks more like Mephiston Red -> Agrax Earthshade (Wash) -> Evil Synz Scarlet -> Fire Dragon Bright -> Cadian Fleshtone

IMO, the second is a better-looking progression. The chart isn't super duper, but for starting purposes, it's helpful.

Also, there are some colors like Dyrad Bark, Rhinox Hide and Mournfang Brown, where it's not really obvious where the progression goes, even if you own all the various paints. Some FLGS have a store copy of the book open where you can flip through it and refer to it.

1) Go to GW's website.

2) Pick a product at random.

3) Look at the 'Recommended Paints'. Write down what's in each bundle.

4) Repeat with another product.

Alternately, go to the 'Paint Bundles' section of the online store and write down what's in each bundle.

Thats basically it ~ they used to have ti displayed nicely on a single page in a sort of table... but that seems to have gone walkies. Perhaps it was too useful to be on the new site.

You can find a lot of them if you google "games workshop paint chart".

Some on Dakka actually saved a few of them...

There's also this thread which has some near the end...

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/490946.page

You can also get lucky and find some random images on itunes like these ones....

Or alternatively you can buy or *cough*pirate*coughs* many of the painting guides that GW sells.

Theyre the ones I recall from the webstore. Before it changed to the latest format.
I found them a little useful when shopping the new range of their paints, combined with the conversion chart to fit my old paints into it.

Got the actual gridded triad chart from Warhammer World. All paints in the current range, and metallics.

I explained why I needed it, and asked if I could take photographs for you. Staff members there said yes.

Here it is, if you click the pics they should enlarge.

Thats a great chart!

... GW are amusing, they create great resources like this which support their product range and then keep it underwraps! lol.

As a fellow colourblind man I recommend the "Citadel Paint List" app for android. It might be on other devices as well, I don't know.
It really helps to keep track of which colour is which.
