Jumping right to the question, what base is the Tau Remore Stealth Drone from Forgeworld supposed to be using in the current rules edition?

I've been unable to find any consensus on the matter. The drones come with skimmer bases, but are flyers by the current Imperial Armour rules, which has caused the only two people in my current player base to weigh in on the matter to be split on opinion. One firmly belives that since they are flyers they should use the flyer base the other planes use. The other feels that there is no rule stating there is a particular base for a model type and it should simply use the base it comes with. Anyone out there have a definitive answer on the matter? I've been thinking about taking them with me to a tournement and want to make sure they're legal.

A model is based on the base it is supplied with.

Ask the TO for sure.

There's no need to ask a TO. The rules are simple. A model is based on the base it is supplied with. Page 9, lower right hand side.

Yeah, and TOs never change the rules. Ever.

Thank you, both of you. You both make excellent points. In this case I did find where it says in the BRB that it's assumed that models use the base they come with with the excetion of models that come without bases in which case it should be modeled on a base of appropriate size. In addition the TO for the tournement I plan on attending did get back to me just a moment ago as well and ruled that they use the skimmer base they come with much like the blight drones of nurgle which also come from FW.

I used the base it came with but I put it on a taller stand to show that it's a flyer. Granted, I don't play in tournaments so take it for it's worth.

Nice. Totally drooling over your army by the way. How does the Tigershark perform for ya?

Tigershark comes out for that once a year Apocalypse game since fliers can come on turn one. It sometimes helps take down a Superheavy but it rarely ever does much on it's own.

Remoras on the other hand are awesome in 7th edition. 2+ jink saves and hover mode are great for grabbing objectives.

Hmm! I hadn't thought about using them for objective grabbing. I'm not used to having models with hover mode. Nice.

I thought the remora had a fairly flay x-axis profile, so the objectives either need to be taller then 3 inches or on some kind of elevated terrain to be be within 3 inches of the Remora's hull.

edit: never mind, I just noticed it comes on a skimmer base.

One would hope TOs don't arbritraily change basic rules of the game.

Plague Drones are also flyers that don't use Flyer stands.

Flyers don't mean flyer stands, it's whatever base its supplied with.

The LVO has, in multiple places. Also the BAO, and iirc Adepticon and WargamesCon.
It happens often.

Tournaments are basically a mashup of house rules and the TO's HIWPI. I can't remember the last tournament that DIDN'T arbitrarily change the basic rules of the game.

Having said that. the Remora comes with a Skimmer base and so should be modeled on a Skimmer base. While cool looking, the OP's extremely tall base could easily be seen as modelling for advantage as it gives a much better visibility to the battlefield. I would not want to play against models on foot tall bases.
