I'm wondering if anybody who has the Blood Angels codex knows if the SM scouts can be placed on the new 32mm bases or if they have to be modeled on their standard 25mm. (Every other unit in the BA codex made the switch, so I'm not sure)

Are they depicted with the new or the old bases in the codex picture?? Thanks!

The package comes with 25mm bases. Ergo, the rules expect you to put them on 25mm bases.

Having said that, the Scouts in the latest Codex: Blood Angels are depicted on 25mm bases.

Models are to be mounted on whatever base size is supplied. If multiple sizes are supplied you have a choice.

Space marine tac squads come with 25mm bases but can be mounted on 32mm. So what comes in the box isn't necessarily all that is allowed. From what the managers said at my local gw you're fine to mount them on 32mms there's nothing saying you can't

There's nothing saying I can't take a free Warhound Titan with every army list I build. "There's nothing saying you can't" is a terrible argument to prove you can do something in this game.

This is a permissive rule set. We're told what we CAN do. The BRB tells us we can mount our models on the bases they come with. Standard Tac squads come with 25mm bases. Strict RaW tells us to mount them on 25mm bases. However, I think most reasonable people would look at the Blood Angels Tac Squad box, see that it comes with 32mm bases and allow you the option of mounting non-Blood Angels Tax Marines on them as well. I would guess that we'll eventually see all Power Armoured Marines coming with 32mm bases.

WH40k: Armageddon p385 gives very definite rules for when you can take a warhound and for how many points it will cost you.

Ill clarify my point: there's nothing saying you can't is a fine argument, provided you aren't a douchebag about it and common sense is also applied

from what I understood when talking to the chaps at GW, if it comes on a 25mm base then you've the option of mounting on a 25mm or 32mm base. I haven't specifically looked at any rules around this so I could be wrong

It's really not. Nothing says I can't hit your models with a hammer.
Nothing says I can't just declare myself the winner.
Nothing says my models don't have unlimited no-scatter Orbital Strikes.

that would be being a douchebag and not using common sense though

To be honest most of the 32mm stuff is aimed at models with T4 stats from the look of things.

So it's not an objective truth, it's just your opinion?

I don't think declaring yourself the winner is being a douchebag.
Seriously, any rule set is permissive based. "It doesn't say I can't!" is the worst argument ever. It's not only a bad reason to claim something, it makes you sound 12.

The way I see it, for Marines anyway.
Terminators - 40mm. no change.
Marines (Infantry) - 32mm (as that is what BA Tac squads come with)
Jump Marines - probably 32mm, 40mm might work better, not 100% sure.
Scouts - 25mm, since they are not as bulky, they fit reasonably well on the 25mm base. As such while most (if not all) of my PA Marines will be on 32mm, Scouts will definitely be 25mm.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Assault marines are excellent on 32s Happyjew. No more wobbly model syndrome for those guys!

Yeah, I got a box of Vanguard Veterans, which I'm trying to decide if I should build as Vets, or build them as Assault Marines and use the extra bits for the DC I have from Deathstorm.

declaring yourself the winner mid game, would make you a douchebag. declaring it at the end if you've won because you've scored more points would be fine, but doesnt really affect this as you'd have won becuase the rules say you can, declaring that you would win when the rules say you have lost is also a douchebag move.

clearly we're not going to agree so lets leave it there, as its probably annoying the op and is off topic

Models and Base Sizes
The rules in this book assume that models are mounted on the base they are
supplied with. Sometimes, a player may have models in his collection on
unusually modelled bases. Some models aren’t supplied with a base at all. In
these cases (which are, in all fairness, relatively few and far between), you
should always feel free to mount the model on a base of appropriate size if you
wish, using models of a similar type as guidance.

Thats the entry from the rule book regarding base sizes....
So if you modeled the bases unusually then it would fit the rule I guess

For instance ages ago I modeled an SM captain on a 40mm base with a big rock and some scenery and what not, I use him in games with this base size.

This is basically the way I'm re-basing my marines. Just cause i think they all look right on 32mms and scout fit the old size better. Plus the assault marines can go on the 32mm small flying bass (this makes me happy)
