Not inherently evil, elemental power can be mastered by those with both malevolent and benign intentions. The Elemental Evil Player’s Companion provides everything players need to build a character that is tied directly into the Elemental Evil storyline.

New race options include the aarakocra, deep gnome, genasi, and goliath. Additionally, a plethora of new spells put the elements directly at your command.

The Elemental Evil Player’s Companion, was original designed by Richard Baker, Robert J. Schwalb and Stephen Schubert, with additional design and development by Wizards D&D R&D.

This accessory is specifically meant to support the Elemental Evil–Princes of the Apocalypse adventure product.

Aarakocra? The bird people? (can't open the PDF right now, my work network is almost completely buggered for some reason.)

Yes, the birdfolk.

I wonder if it is legal to make a character using that book for the Adventurer's League? Still, good catch.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

I don't think so, Ahtman. As I understand it, neither races from this supplement or the ones in the DMG are allowed for AL.

I'm not finding much too compelling here, but I'm sure some folks will dig it. I do like the Goliath's damage resistance mechanic, I might take it as inspiration for something to put into my game. It feels like it should scale in some way though.

I think WotC's approach is, there needs to be a D&D core set on the shelf at book stores next to Pathfinder to prevent dilution of brand ID. The real goal is licensing. So I don't expect much out of WotC itself now that the core books are done. Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Rise of Tiamat were both written by Kobold Press. Princes of the Apocalypse is by Sasquatch Studios. I don't know if they also did the player's guide, as originally announced (when it was rumoured to be a print release rather than free PDF). The minis and board game are by WizKids. Nothing else is slated for release nor are there any reliable rumours.

Apparently this information will be part of the Princes of The Apocalypse adventure book but you can also get the player companion listed here free, and as Manchu pointed out, it is all by Sasquatch Studios under the WotC banner/license for D&D.

There was a thread on the AL forum saying everything but the Aarakocra are legal to use. Considering they are a race with a fly speed that seems to make sense.

A few friends want to do the AL events at GenCon so we have been trying to get characters prepared for that. As a Barbarian the Goliaths interest me a bit.

Head's up, 2014 GenCon AL adventures were pretty boring. But you live close so I guess going requires minimal expenditure.

Is adventure league like Pathfinder Society and D'n'D Encounters for the new edition?

Still not feeling it with the new edition weirdly. I mean I think I _should_ be excited, but I just haven't been that bothered.

If I see a book in English in any of the nerd shops today I might pick it up, since it seems like they're not going to do a nice bundle with all the books like they did for 4th edition.

It is like Pathfinder Society, only it is a decent system and fun to play instead.

As I understand the highest you can get to is level 5 at the moment based on available mods and downtime for training. You can get through first and second level in one adventure each, but after that it slows considerably.
