I picked up a bunch of old edition Tyranids on Craigslist. I've figured out all of the models except this one. He looks kind of like a lictor, but has guns on either hand and had two gaunt gunners glued onto his back. He's got a metal tag on his feet, which makes me think he's meant for a slotted base (but has been haphazardly glued to a plastic skimmer base). In these pictures he's missing his right hand gun and the other back gunner. Anyone know what this guy is?

The top half looks like an old gargoyle without the wings. I'm not sure about the bottom half, though. The bottom reminds me of a lictor, but it seems too short. I see some joints and greenstuff on the tail thing in the first picture.

I still think the part above the lictor head is a gargoyle. After thinking about it some more, I think the legs are from a hormagaunt, the one at the bottom right here:

Yeah, Gargoyle on top of a Lictor torso with Hormagaunt legs. All 2nd ed models.

And all attached to a flying base. Really, what the bleepity bloop was the builder trying to build with this??

So, the model itself can be considered 'junk' or 'art piece' depending on if you're a cup half full or empty kind of person. Might be interesting to convert a couple modern Nids with the older parts but I doubt even that would be worth the effort. If there were other bits I'd say try to rebuild the original models. I'm a big fan of using old 2nd and 3rd Edition Tyranids in my broods. Adds diversity.

The tag is illegible, as much as I've tried to read it.

I think you're right about the gargoyle and the hormagaunt. There was an odd pair of wings with the models, but I'm using those as my hive tyrant's wings (he's 3rd edition so they're not crazy off on size). Not sure where the gun/spike in his left hand came from.

I guess I'll try to fix him up and run him as a 'thrope or lictor.

For sure. I had 80 of them that were bare metal a month after they plastic ones were released. I sold them for twice their original price on ebay. Granted I started them at have their original price. Bidding and demand sent the price through the roof.
