I'm playing GK, with a Firebase Formation.
Broadsides are pretty easy to figure out: deploy ~6" away from my line, preferably in ruins, and shoot anything that moves.
The Riptide, I'm less sure on.
He has the Ion Accelerator, Fusion Gun, and Stimulants. He seems pretty durable, but is it a good idea to move forward? The Fusion range is meh, but I'm afraid that if I move him forward, he'll die quite quickly.
Of course, the enemy might be too distracted by double DKs to worry about the Ripper....

Give him Early Warning Override for some S8 AP2 pie plate interceptor goodness. Same with Broadsides, they are you anti-drop pod insurance.
Fusion Gun is only there for those cases when there is an AV14 on the lose and you can not engage it otherwise.
However, note that Rippy's performance will not be that great due to lack of Markerlight support.

Yeah, all three units have EWO. Is the Fusion the right choice, or should I do plasma instead? more shots, better range.... And the Dreads can kill AV14 in CC

In your case it may be. You may also want to consider the SMS to kill those objective campers out of line of sight where your Broadsides do not reach them and GK elements are too valuable to waste on them.
Really depends what you want it to do.

Hmmm...I hadn't realised that I could ripple-fire the SMS, getting 8S5 TL ignores cover shots. That's pretty good...
And it fits in much better with what the Ion Acc is for, imo: killing massed infantry.

Remember, SMS does not require you to have line of sight to the target

Qthat holds true for your broadsides as well. If you do want to try them out, a drone controller on one of the suits and some marker drones could make for some support in a pinch.

Get your riptide in the action. Shoot and scoot. Make them come after you. It can take a fair amount of shooting, and for some reason people love to dedicate way more then they should to kill one.

And don't worry about using points for Feel No Pain. Your Riptide will survive many turns at T6, 5 wounds, 2+, and 5++ base. But SMS does tend to be the preferred load out for either brand of Riptide since you can keep him 30" away from anything. Now you are not longer in danger of being charged!

FNP on a Riptide is more of a pointdump than anything else. 35pts is a lot to pay for it and personally it rarely does anything. Ive gone games at a time where my riptides dont pass a single friggen FNP roll.
Its usually the first thing i cut if i need points. Even more Firewarriors will pull more weight than that FNP does for me.

Skip the Fusion on the Riptide and stick to long range and cover ignoring shots from the ripplefiring missiles. Thats my first suggestion. Second is to make sure he has FnP and of course EITHER skyfire or interceptor depending on the lists needs.
As for where to put him, I place him near a a Markerdrone swarm which is led by a Buffmander. I usually use him to get the enemy to come close. So I might push him forward, and then bring him back to make it even more tempting for the enemy to come over there.

Add marker drones to the broadsides if you feel like you need them.

I see no reason why he cant add them in a CAD? Is there a reason?

Yes, there is: I don't own any other Tau, and I'm not interested in buying them anytime soon.
Just the Firebase, for me (with a VSG, of course)
