Hey all, looking for some input on how to kill FMCs in 7th. I primarily play eldar/dark eldar but im finding that its a real pain in the neck when I'm dealing with flyrants or daemons.

Before I go any further, I'd appreciate no mentions of wave serpents. I do frequently run 4 or 5 and that tends to deal with just about anything including the FMC but I'm starting to build lists that are more fun.

in 6th I had a good grasp on it. I ran a flying circus for a while; i also ran a venom spam army for a while. it used to be relatively simple. I'd shoot with the crew of the venom; they were snapping anyways because of the speed i was travelling at. I'd keep shooting one by one until I grounded it and then I'd finish it off with the venom. but now that they only take a grounding test if they suffer the wound and it's only once per turn I'm finding that I'm never knocking them out of the air. I'd considered a crimson hunter or something but it's not going to kill one in a turn anyways and then its going to get minced (especially against a flyrant).

maybe the razorwing would prove better?
I dont want to run fortifications.
I'm hoping to find something that can put reliable wounds on flyers and still not be useless against other targets.

most recently even a wave serpent failed. It shot at a flyrant 4 turns in a row. scatter lasers, shield and cannon. didnt put a single wound on it and didnt ground it. and i even had half decent shield blasts.

I do understand that FMCs have also been nerfed in the sense that they can't charge as effectively... but a flyrant with the dakka or a bunch of psyker princes can't be allowed to run amuk. help me bring these bastards down!

As a DEldar player I recommend allied Wave Serpents!

Nah in all serious, I like Razorwings. I like to run mine with Dark Lances for anti-Flyers as well, but if you specifically need anti-FMC then Disintegrator and Splinter Cannon work well. They also have missiles for anti-horde.

Another thing that I like using is 10x Warriors in a Raider w/ Splinter Racks. Although they snapfire, they average 2.944 wounds in rapid fire range - nearly enough to statistically take off a hull point.

Going first will help, especially when they are grounded. In the case of Flyrants, I would try and remove the Venom/Malanthrope before you fire into the Flyrant. 2+ cover is harder to get through than 3+ armour if you're not using WS.

YMDC = nightmare

True enough. I've been trying a webway with scythes and that seems to destroy the cover easy enough unless it's really well bubblewrapped. I guess two disintegrates and a splintercannon firing at regular BS isn't too bad actually

Depends on the FMC. Usually you need volume and/or some way to bypass their innate defenses; Purifiers, Shriek from a Daemon Prince, and any Flyer with lots of bullets (Fire Raptors, say) are all good tools.
