Decided to try and shove 2 Destroyer Cults into 1 Decurion.

Reclamation:
Zahndrekh
5x Immortals Gauss
10x Warriors
10x Warriors
3x Tomb Blades w/ 2x Shields, 3x Neb and P. Beamer

D. Cult 1:
D. Lord w/ Phase Shifter and Warscythe
2x D. with 1x Heavy D.
2x D. with 1x Heavy D.
2x D. with 1x Heavy D.

D. Cult 2: (same as above)

8x Flayed Ones
7x Flayed Ones

The Destroyer Lords would join the Flayed Ones for Deep Strike. All the destroyers can deep strike while Zahndrekh picks a warlord trait on turn 2 to give them rerolls to reserves. Seems like a fun list if you really like Destroyers. Might be competitive too.

I do not like the idea of running destroyers and heavy destroyers in the same unit without split Fire as they have totally different ideal targets. Destroyers want marines, heavy destroyers want vehicles and monstrous creatures. Take the three units of destroyers and then the single unit of heavy destroyers, thereby avoiding the issue I mentioned.

I think the flayed ones don't really add anything to the list and could be dropped to give some mobility to your core, a ghost arch or night sythe. Or swapped for a canopteck harvest although you might not have the points. I just think fearless wraiths are the best tarpit we have to hold down a Death Star while the rest of your amry shoots everything to oblivion.

I'm not sure I agree with your assessment. I've run the Dcult that way and it works great. The heavy gauss cannons are not wasted or vise versa due to the utility of the gauss rule. Both punch heavy infantry and vehicles just fine with the formation 're-rolls.

I also think you underestimate the value of flayed one's. They put out disgusting amounts of attacks and benefit greatly from preffered enemy. However, I would just combine the units and the DLords for a nasty deathstar unit.

I think this is a good gunline list with decent counter-charge and could do quite well, especially against vehicle heavy lists like knights.

I think instead of using 2 Dcults you would be better off with more fleshed out destroyer squads in one DCult, mostly for KP purposes.

Aftermath can be calculated.

I thought about fielding the Flayed Ones together with both Destroyer Lords and decided with splitting them so that I have a smaller foot print with each unit (good for deep strike) and able to cover more ground. But I think that will take some play-testing to decide for sure.

Having larger squads will risk losing them to melee and increases their footprint for deep strike. It also reduces my options when selecting targets. The trade-off to that is KPs, as you say. I mostly run NOVA OPEN missions which give you options during mission selection to make KPs lesser of a problem for MSU armies.

My first list for a 'Destroyer Wing' was a full Destroyer Cult so I just wanted to try the MSU approach. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Of course if I reaaaaly want to go MSU then I could go something like this....

Rec Legion:
Zahndrekh
5x Immortals
10x Warriors
10x Warriors
3x Tomb Blades w/ shields and nebs

D. Cult:
D. Lord w/ Nightmare Shroud, Warscythe, Phase Shifter
3x Heavy Ds
2x Destroyers 1x Heavy D
2x Destroyers 1x Heavy D
2x Destroyers 1x Heavy D

8 units of 5x Flayed Ones or 1 unit of 20x Flayed Ones and 4 units of 5x

Would be amusing to see so many infiltrating Flayed Ones on the board...

But more realistically I could go with a list like this.

Rec Legion:
Zahndrekh
5x Immortals
10x Warriors
10x Warriors
3x Tomb Blades w/ Neb, Shield
3x Tomb Blades w/ Neb, Shield, P. Beamers
3x Tomb Blades w/ Neb, Shield, P. Beamers

C. Harvest w/ 6x Wraiths w/ T. Beamers

D Cult: Same as one above with the Nightmare Shroud and 3x Heavy Ds

There's just so many ways to play necrons right now I'm finding it difficult to decide what to do. I really like the idea of a Destroyer Cult so I'm kind of sticking with that. But I also love Wraiths, Flayed Ones and the Conclave. There's not enough points for everything!

I like it. Good counter assault. Decent mobility and firepower. I agree the HDestroyer and Destroyers have similar targets when in the cult. The only issue I have is the Rec Legion tax. You're not getting much from it (other than Decurion status).

Personally if running double Destroyer Cult I'd dump the Decurion and add a Judicator battalion or a couple of Harvests.

Help! Its dark and I can smell...mmm...bacon

If I had the models I would love to run a destroyer cult with a judicator battalion. Giving the stalker the twin linked heavy gauss and some Hdestroyers gives you a gun line with BS 5 preferred enemy 36" S 9 AP 2 shots. To me it sounds like whatever you want to kill will probably die. And then you have praetorians as your counter assault group.

I too would like to do that FlingItNow but I'm trying to stick with the 2 detachment requirement that will be at NOVA OPEN this year (as well as seems to be at other tournaments). Though for other tournaments I will definitely run Destroyer Cult plus other formations without any kind of tax.

Wouldn't 2 Destroyer Cult Formations and a Judicator Battalion Formation be able to be taken as part of a single Formation Detachment?

Negative, unless you include them in a Decurion which requires the Reclemation Legion.

Individually, each formation is it's own detachment.

I'm sure NOVA will catch up with 7th Ed soon.
