I am currently reading Vengeful Spirit (no spoilers don't worry) and it is mentioned that if a Knight spends too much time in cased at one time, he will go insane. My idea was to have a Knight that has gone insane, and is simply referred to as the Minotaur by the Minotaurs. They repainted his armour in Minotaurs colours, and release him upon the enemy. Do you think this works fluff wise? He will have Minotaur horns attached to his helmet

I doubt it. keep in mind that the minotaurs may be the "complete jerk chapter" but they're still a space marine chapter. I imagine they'd see their chapter colours as something special and wouldn't paint an outsider up in them as some sort of joke. it's generally implied that allowing a guard regiment, a knightly house etc, to incorperate the hereldry of an Astartes chapter into their mix would be seen as something of an honor.

that said given the Minotaurs background as "flunkies of the highlords" whose to say there isn't a knightly house that works with them on occasion, perhaps a similer flunky group, that maybe incorperates aspects of the minotaur's hereldry

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I didn't mean paint up as a joke. I mean the call him the Minotaur in reverence of his fury, rage and power. I meant it like the Minotaur of Greek legend.

I was originally thinking of doing the second part, but like the idea of a crazed Minotaur like Knight charging in to battle.

I think it could work. In The First Heretic the Word Bearers fully induct Incarnadine, a Conquerer Class Robot into their order, draping it in their colours and covering it with runes. It was also present when Lorgar spoke to the Legion, even when all non-Word Bearers were asked to leave.

The only problem with an Imperial Knight is that it has a pilot, who is essentially human. Not sure how the Astartes would feel about inducting a non-enhanced human but they do have serfs after all.

And the Angels of Darkness descended on pinions of fire and light... the great and terrible dark angels.
He was not the golden lord. The Emperor will carry us to the stars, but never beyond them. My dreams will be lies, if a golden lord does not rise.

I look to the stars now, with the old scrolls burning runes across my memory. And I see my own hands as I write these words. Erebus and Kor Phaeron speak the truth.

My hands. They, too, are golden.

Yeah true, though he wouldn't be inducted as such, just more repainted and utilized. Thanks for that fluff from WBs!

I think it'd work fine. You could use him as a crazed chapter champion or something, maybe in a command squad. If you were using him as an independent character though, I don't know what rules you'd use. Maybe Rage and Furious Charge.

ALL HAIL THE ORKISSIAH, TRINARY SPEAKING GOD OF ORK TECHNOLOGY. (Unlike wimpy old Binary, Orks have commands for Yes, No AND "Maybe")

He's talking about the Imperial Knights, the big mini-Titans

But I don't see any problems with it either, pretty cool idea if you ask me. And the Minotaurs are mysterious enough fluff wise there isn't really anything in their fluff to dispute it either.

I hardly know anything about Knight fluff but I'm guessing something like the Knight World or House owing the High Lords some special debt and being seconded to the Minotaurs chapter would make sense fluff-wise.

Either that, or the Minotaurs defended the Knight World and the Knight in question swore an oath to follow them. Or make some story about an isolated squad and the knight surviving some overwhelming threat together. Out of respect for one another, they swore oaths of brotherhood and the Knight was inducted as an honorary member of the Minotaurs.

That should work fluff-wise, right?

Glad to help! ImAGeek is the one who convinced me to read it though

Oh btw, even the Adeptus Custodes the Emperor sent to watch the Word Bearers were asked to leave. The Mechanicum Priest in charge of the robot (part of a cohort, with 3 other robots) was asked to leave as well, with the other robots in tow. So it's no small honor to be an honorary member of an Astartes chapter/legion.

The bit about Carthage cohort in FH is really cool, I liked that bit. If (when) I do my pre heresy WBs I'm gonna do some Mechanicum allies to represent them.

Edit - Double post, sorry

I was trying to edit my post and it just wouldn't update so I thought it would automatically attach it to the previous post

The part where Lorgar tells the Custodes to leave made me laugh. Man it's such a great book.

Ahhh, yeah that's me not reading closely enough. I imagine the High Lords would probably give the Minotaurs whatever they want in terms of gear, so if they had a knight that went crazy, the best way to dispose of him could very easily be allowing the Minotaurs to make use of him. In my mind that makes plenty of sense for fluff.

Because I am silly however, I would name him the Mini-taur. Since he is so obviously tiny.

Yea, I'm very pleasantly surprised by how good it actually is. It juggles a lot of themes like Fulgrim tries to but does it so much more successfully. And it builds up steadily and never lets up. I had trouble putting it down for the past few nights. And it makes me think an Adeptus Mechanicum faction is long overdue!

Oh and I like the Word Bearers so much in it they might be my second favorite legion at this point.

They're up there for me too, and I basically hated them before I read it. And Argal Tal is like my favourite character now.
