Time for a bit of an update! I've assembled a lot of guys and started to plan out some things. I'm trying some of Imgurs picture sizing, so bare with me.

First up is my assembled and magnetized Terminator Squad.

Spoiler:

Given that this will be my first army that I will have done almost completely NOS/NIB, I'm going the full nine yards. Magnets, greenstuff, and possibly custom bases from a wargaming site. (these ones come to mind) http://www.tinyworlds.co.uk/bases/resin-bases/round-bases/32mm-rock-slate-resin-bases

I had contemplated the round lipped bases as I want this to not only be a playable army, but hopefully my showcase army. Then again that relies on my painting haha.

Next up I fiddled with magnetizing and partially assembling my Death Company, I want to be able to swap between foot sloggers and jump troop, so I bought some greenstuff to put into the top portion of the jumppack slot. I will put a magnet in there and hopefully it will be as simple as that.

Spoiler:

This was the layout I set up for myself before beginning the magnetizing

Fully magnetized!

Captain Karlaen is truly a superb model and I am stoked to paint him!
Spoiler:

These are the bases I tried to make out of foamboard, and I really don't know how I feel about them in comparison to Tinyworlds bases. While they are significantly more cost effective, it's hard to say if they will look as nice.
Spoiler:

Next up will most likely be my Tactical Squad. I went out and bought the Militarum Tempestus Scions and will be assembling them as my scouts.

Until next time!

Welcome back dude! glad to see you're on to a project that seems pretty solid I know you'll do them justice specially due to the car I can see you lavish on them already in the building stage! I probably wouldn't use foam board for bases but opt instead for cork, you can buy thin cork tile cheap from hardware stores and then break it into great shapes using the left over bits in a blender (an old blender) and blend them to give you a great mix of randomly minced sizes of grit and rocks you can use as filler in between the large stones on the bases! this will save you heaps in custom bases, I'd say if I were to get an old blender or a cheap one for $20 a pack of tiles for $15 I would have enough basing detritus for a lifetime of hobbies.

plus if you use foam then decide to use 'The Army Painter' coloured primers (which I HIGHLY recommend) it will melt the foam and we don't want that

Looking forward to all you have to show us!

Powersword
Powerfist
Bolt Pistol
Plasma Pistol
Grav Pistol
Melta Pistol
Hand Flamer
Storm Bolter
Boltgun
Combi-Flamer
Combi-Melta
Combi-Grab
Combi-Plasma

I also finished magnetizing my Specialist for the Tactical Squad
Spoiler:

Full kit includes:
Plasma Gun
Grav Gun
Multi-Melta
Flamer

I also upgraded my hobby work station from this:
Spoiler:

To this!!
Spoiler:

The most exciting part of todays update is that in all my heresy I rescued the Green Tide from the trash can as my brother was gonna call them a write off. I have never played orks and literally have no idea what a lot of this stuff is.
Spoiler:

These first three i'm assuming are the Boyz, but idk what they are armed with

These are clearly deff koptas, bikes and what looks like a weird boy?

Two warbosses, killa kanz, and a deffdread?

Idk what any of these orks are armed with. A lot of them seem random

I think these guys are Nobz but im not sure.

Painboy and a Grot Orderly

Im asuming these are Mega Nobz?

And these are the parts im missing...

I have no idea what this guy is supposed to be

No idea what this is

Im asuming this is a Big Mek?

I don't know what this guy does

These two are different then the others, what are they?

As always, comments and criticism is welcome, any ideas on what I should try is welcome to. And if anyone can help me identify these orks that would be splendid as I dont have any codex to go off of and I don't want to splurge $70.... yet

Nice start Vel'cona :-) I love the time you're putting in will really spur you on! magnetizing things is a great way to set yourself up for any eventuality lol! any ideas on how you want to tackle the reds? are you staying 'vanilla' BA or following a successor chapter?

Also, since I'm now an Ork Warlord, if you have anything Ork plastic you feel you may want to sell :-) I'm keen to throw money at you!

Magnetizing has definitely taken a lot more time, but the layout is worth it. I watched a video on YouTube which has a pretty good tutorial I'll follow for my reds and golds, I've already purchased all the paints I'll need. I'll link it you in an edit as I'm at work right now. Also, I'm not sure what I'm doing with the green tide yet. There is lots of older models I think make this army have a lot of character. I look forwar to stripping these down and painting them up. But first o gotta figure out if all the bits are here haha.

What's up guys, another update for you. Unfortunately today I won't have any pictures but I wanted to have an electronic copy of the state of each unit in my army, so without further adieu:

10 BA Tactical Marines - In the assembling / magnetizing stage
5 Assault Marines - NiB
5 Assault Marines - Stripping
5 Militarum Tempestus Scions (Scouts) - NiB
5 Tactical Terminators - Ready for Primer
5 BA Assault Terminators - NiB
5 Deathcompany - Built, Greenstuff/Magnet work being done to the jump packs, as they are unstable
5 Sanguinary Guard - NiB
1 Techmarine with Servitors - Building / Stripping stage
1 Metal Jump Chaplain - Stripping
1 Metal Jump Captain - Stripping
1 Terminator Chaplain - Ready for Primer
1 Emporers Champion - Stripping
1 Dreadnought - NiB
1 Dreadnought - Being converted into Librarian Dreadnought
5 Devastators - 2 being stripped

I've also begun stripping the Meganobz and Stormboyz from the Ork lot I recieved, I will slowly begin stripping them so when I'm done assembling all my Blood Angels, I can change up the pace for painting so I don't get bored (BA being my serious painting, Orks being for fun)

Also, I've gone ahead and ordered Resin cast bases from both Dark Art Miniatures and Dragon Forge in the Urban Rubble theme. The list includes

Dark Art Miniatures
20 x 25mm Urban Bases
5 x 40mm Urban Bases
1 x 60mm Urban Base
1 x 40mm Hero Plinth Urban Base
http://www.darkartminiatures.com/Urban/cat1768315_1615210.aspx

The Dragon Forge
10 x 25mm Urban Rubble
5 x 40mm Urban Rubble
1 x 60mm Urban Rubble
1 x 40mm Hero Plinth Urban Rubble
http://www.dragonforge.com/Painting%20service/for%20sale/base_sets/sci-fi/urban_rubble.htm

I will be providing a review of both of these companies products. It was a more costly endeavour to go the prefabricated base route, however I will be pleased with the outcome I'm sure. Unfortunately the day after ordering my bases I stumbled across Antenocitis Workshop, where you can get a huge value pack of basing materials at a MUCH cheaper cost than GW, I highly recommend someone give these a try, as I will be purchasing their urban rubble kit no doubt in the near future (And probably 32mm Conversion Rings cause I'm anal about the super tiny 25mm)
http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/wargames-bases-basing/basecrafts-base-kits.html

That's all I have for now, It's a super busy week for me and my hobbying is unfortunately moving at a snails pace.

See you Dakkanoughts soon!

Dragon forge is probably one of the best I have worked with, I too am using the urban rubble series.

@Ustrello I really like the look of their stuff. Albeit it being a bit more expensive. Dark Art averaged around $7 a pack, while Dragon Forge was about $10, I didn't mind paying a bit extra because I really wanted each unit to have its own unique base.

Hey guys, back with another update. I've been away from the forum for a bit but I've not been idle!

Over the last couple of weeks I've got my Thunderhammer Terminators, Sanguinary Guard, Scout Squad and Terminator Librarian assembled/magnetized/primed.

Thunderhammer Terminators
Spoiler:

Sanguinary Guard
Spoiler:

Scouts - So I really despise the Games Workshop scout models, so as I posted previously in this blog, I used Militarum Tempestus Scion models for my scouts, the result was rather successful.
Spoiler:

Granted the Sergeant probably isn't all the practical, I use him as a counts as Sniper Rifle / Camo Cloak, I set him up this was for painting aesthetics, and because I like flashy models

Librarian
Spoiler:

In addition to getting all of those ready for paint, my Death Company, Jump Chaplain, Terminator Chaplain, Tactical Squad, Tactical Terminators, and Karlaen are all primed and ready for paint aswell. I traded my Dark Angels Dark Vengeance Half to a friend for a Furioso DC Dread, Razorback with Forgeworld Lascannon and Dozer Blade, Lemartes, Gabriel Seth, and Two SM Captains with Spellcrow conversions. I have only my Assault Marines and Furioso Dreadnought left to assembled and prime. The 5 Assault Marines I awhile ago I am thinking about snapping arms/heads and other bits off and kitting together my DC bits to make a second squad.

As far as my Orks, I stripped a gak ton of models over the past week and here is what they look like at the moment:
Spoiler:

They will need to be sorted out as some wont be salvagable so I will have to buy bitz online. While in my local Games Workshop, this beauty caught my eye and I have full intentions of picking up a box when I have the funds.
Spoiler:

I haven't seen this on their webstore but the store manager assures me this is what replaced the Ork Battleforce. So I went ahead and picked up the Codex

And finally, guess what arrived today!!

Thats right! My Dark Arts Miniatures bases!
Spoiler:

I must apologize for the shadows in some of the pictures, I was running off of daylight before I wizened up and turned the lamp over my work table on. The bases are as good as I expected, minimal cleaning and the detail is spectacular. There were some gelatin like substances in some of the pores of the models which I can only assume was uncured resin. Too be expected, so not a fault on DAM behalf. Shipping time was longer than expected, but it did comes from Europe to Canada, so all is forgiven. I am after all, still waiting on my Dragon Forge bits from the States, but they did warn me they were on backorder.

And lastly, my friend and I found a local hobby store not far from out Games Workshop where I bought a "PzBefWg Panther Ausf. G" which is essentially just a predator sized tank which I will be looting/converting for my Boyz!

As always, C&C welcome.

Cheers
