I have a Tau friend that runs Firebase Support Cadre and he is thinking about running one unit of HYMP and one unit of HRR Broadsides.
I normally play DEldar when I bring FBSC and usually go for 2x EWO 1x TL and HYMP on all of them for the volume of shots as I need them for AA.
But is the HRR viable, either inside or outside a Tau list?

I know how good HYMP are. The math is undeniable. But the rule of cool is just undeniable to me with the rail rifles. Next codex obviously it will swing back again and the railsides will rise to power.

The issue with HRR is that HYMP are only 1 str lower and just a ton more shots. Missing, cover saves, invulns, jink....it's a tough world for a low quantity of high str low ap shots. I feel like you are just so sad so often

HYMP look awful imo. As if he's carrying a stack of eggs.

Depends on the size of the board as well. Sometimes that 60" range is win. But yes, the vast, vast majority of the time, HYMP >>> HRR.
