Hey guys, normally I wouldn't use the OT for my searching needs, but google has failed me (or I have failed it, either or)
I have a favour to ask, can anyone help me find the title of/a link to the story where Sherlock is a crazy guy in a cell, visited by Watson, having tried to investigate a Cthulhu related cult? It is something along those lines, and I really would like to show it to a friend of mine at uni but for the life of me I cannot find it. It's a short story from memory, very short, and really creepy and cool.

It's been a long time since I read it, but it sounds like one of the stories in Shadows Over Baker Street which is a book of short stories devoted to that crossover.

I would suspect Holmes would discern that investigating the mythos would have these consequences before experiencing them. He is not an average investigator and far from incautious.
Professor Quatermass was best described as 'the rarest thing, a hero against the mythos'. Yet he is nothing compared to the master detective. I think with Holmes batting on humanities side things would be looking up for the human race. Its also the sort of issue where common ground with Moriarty could be found.
Morarirty being Holmes mental equal would quickly discern he could not exploit the Mythos, and do so before personally contaminated by it. Moriarty being ultimately selfish would ru the other way, but could become a vital lead of underground intel if an unstable one.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. |

The closest thing I can think of is Neil Gaiman's A Study In Emerald, though I'm pretty sure that's not what you're looking for:

It's also the only story in Shadows Over Baker Street that wasn't complete gak.
(seriously, after reading it, my friends and I made of joke of 'forgetting' it at each other's places so it'd pop up like some sort of cursed idol until someone finally threw it away).
