Lets try this again,

Hello all and welcome to my showcase thread, where I'll post up the models and terrain that I've actually gotten around to finishing, as I do so.

First up A section of wall that I built and painted for the 12th LoER contest.

And my finished Imperial militia squad (a squad of guardsmen made up of various imperial citizenry, PDF units, bodygaurds and anyone else who can fight).

and lastly an Imperial fist captain, that I've just finished off for the "Dakka first monthly painting contest" that Paradigm is hosting at the time of writing this, that I painted at about the same time as the above.

Hopefully I won't forget this thread exists and will continue to add to it.

I'd love to hear some feedback on these, especially if it will help me to improve!

Thanks all.

OMN out.

Damn good job brother, I especially like the idea of the militia!

Entries to the second and third rounds of the painting contest.

For the second round the theme was veterans so I entered the first three members of the second squad of militia:

Third round theme was "fast and furious", so an arco-fhagellent was a natural choice, although my pictures leave a lot to be desired:

Here's a bonus pic of the base, to which I put alot of effort into.
Spoiler:

See, not forgotten about this thread , I just don't finish painting models as often as I'd like.

Thank you

OMN

Really wonderful work brother ! I like the human models a lot, they look more minimal in their equipment and very elegant posing. And that paint job is so well done. But seriously man send that pic of the imperial fists captain to gw. I'd put money on them popping him in a visions magazine

These are so cool, I love how much character you cram into them it's crazy. You for sure got one of my F&F votes last month! Keep 'em coming!

Just noticed this thread and although the militia are good, its the captain which caught my eye. I can tell a lot of work went into him by the amount of conversion/kitbashing present. The helmet looks awesome, sort of menacing what sprue is it from? or perhaps its green stuff. I assume the axe is from a librarian kit? It too has been painted skillfully, the shimmering effect really enhances the aesthetics. Not the biggest fan of the iron halo looks a little big, but hey ho.
The model is on the whole both impressive and intriguing as to where which parts come from and what not.

Bravo!

Thank you all very much.

Sure I can give up my parts list. The plasma pistol is from the SM captain kit; head, torso, shoulder pads and power axe are from the Forgeworld "AGISTER SEVRIN LOTH CHIEF LIBRARIAN OF THE RED SCORPIONS WITH HONOUR GUARD" kit.
Skull details on legs are bits from the grey knights in power armour box, legs themselves are repositioned running marine legs + greenstuff. Oh and the arms are FW MKIV from the mkIV weapons kit, giant halo is from Saint Celestine.

I went for the giant halo for the sake of being ridiculous, his armour is covered in skulls, he is bright yellow and has bits of paper stuck to him ...

I can't say I'm a huge fan of the shimmering blade look, I know I didn't get the reflections right but I just decided to roll with it instead of back peddling to correct it. It is not easy to pull off on something more complex than a straight blade.

Cheers for that.
Wow. That is an excellent Forgeworld kit, (just £40! ). I have no intention of collecting red scorpions but I am tempted to buy the kit, the components would look awesome in any space marine army. Massive fan of those helmets and the axes.

Yep, just carve off the scoripion symbols like I did, and if you like, replace them with your own as I have done with the fist symbols.

Also Severin Loth is an awesome model.

Happy to help

Time for another update.

I have finally finished the second squad of militia (I'll have to get some better images of these when I can).

For the 8th, Halloween round of the monthly painting competition, I painted up some zombies made from the mantic set, with a change of bases and a bit of greenstuff.

And lastly a pair of defensive turret emplacements that I made and were a good chance to try some different weathering techniques:

Thank you all,

OMN.

Wow, I really like these conversions, especially what you did to the Elysian guns to make them look much better. I modified the gun on my test Drop Trooper mini posted on this forum, too. This is good inspiration. The use of the Elysian limbs adds a lot of dynamic movement to the models. Where did the torsos come from?

Keep up the excellent conversion and painting work.

Thanks, I'll try.

Actually the arms are Tau Firewarrior arms, it's just the guns & legs that are Elysian, the guns are the sniper rifles from the Elysian Weapons kit.

The Torsos (and the heads) I sculpted myself.

Thanks. You've got some seriously impressive skills if you sculpted the torsos and heads. Wow!

How did you do the gun strapped to his back? Is that green stuff, too?

I'm no-where near good enough to sculpt that, the gun on the guy's back is a shotgun by maxmini: http://maxmini.eu/conversion-bits/ballistic-weapons/shotguns-bits it's just superglued on it what I thought might be an OK position + a little strip of greenstuff to make the strap.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I meant, "Did you sculpt the strap?", not the gun itself. Thanks for sharing. Really cool result.

This is really awesome, especially the militia. Extraordinary conversions. I like mixing Empire and Imperial stuff quite a bit. I also like the color schemes you choose as well. Good work!
