Is Games workshop going to get their heads out of their butts and start making new models for these games?

No. They do not even acknowledge these games, let alone want to support them.
|
At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Why exactly would GW make models for games they don't sell anymore? Specialist games is dead. The sooner you accept this the sooner you can either move to other games or get to DIY'ing your own SG experience.
It's kind of like asking..
Is Nintentdo going to get their heads out of their butts and start making new games for the Game Cube?
Don't get me wrong, I painted up a Van Saar gang last year and I'd love to see some new Necromunda, but GW carried the Specialist Games for several years without any additions or printed rulebooks and then dropped the lines entirely. I don't see why they'd change now.

There are tons of miniature lines from different companies that would be suitable for use in Necromunda.
There are several quality gaming systems that offer differing game of skirmish-level sci-fi (Infinity, Mercs, Deadzone, Judge Dredd, to name but a few)
Necromunda was on life support for many years before the plug was pulled, I doubt very much if GW will re-launch it. Best advice I can give is to sub in some other miniatures, or broaden your wargaming horizons and look elsewhere!

Not sure what you guys are talking about. Bloodbowl is still being played now.
Instead of putting out a Codex a month and changing the rules every year, maybe they should be back to updating games that need it.

There are also companies that make excellent miniatures for Blood Bowl - some of them far superior to those that GW used to have for the game. (In part because many of those Blood Bowl miniatures dated back twenty years and more....)
Hell, there is a company that does custom Blood Bowl pitches.
Do look around - you may be pleasantly surprised by the amount and variety that are out there for Blood Bowl.
For Necromunda... a bit harder - though Heresy has a truly excellent Not-Orlock gang and I have a friend that went in heavily for Raging Heroes and their Toughest Girls of the Galaxy Kickstarter. (Jailbirds... he is using them as Eschers What Got Caught....)

If you read the opening post, the person is asking about GW releasing official stuff for Necromunda and Bloodbowl (was just Necromunda, the thread title has been updated since), not whether people are playing it. (of course, they still are).
And, I think people who play and enjoy Bloodbowl/Necromunda hope that GW circa 2015 will leave them well alone..

Sure, Bloodbowl is still being played, as is Necromunda. But so far as GW is concerned, those games are dead.
GW have shown no interest in ressurecting them.

I hope gw leaves blood bowl, necromunda, Mordheim, & Battlefleet Gothic the hell alone. They play far better than 7th ed 40k BECAUSE they haven't been bothered in years. So the long & short of it is gw isn't interested in making models for any of them & tbh thats not all bad. The after market blood bowl stuff is far superior to the gw stuff. And if you really want gw stuff for blood bowl go buy a whfb unit box of your choice & make a team. It's extremely easy to accomplish.
As for necromunda while there's no official gang models anymore those cultists from dark vengeance are pretty really available & are more or less a gang (or pair of them) already.

I just went through several alternative miniature stores and some are better than others. It's difficult to get miniatures in same scales and same style. The Delaque Heresy minis are some of the best options for full gang. Chaos Cultists as mentioned is superb for Necromunda (heavy stubber!).
I do not particularly advice on Brother Vinnie's unless you make a whole gang of 28mm true scale minis. Still waiting for Hasslefree to send my order hoping those fit better together with GW's bulky heroic 28mm scale.

With the popularity of the games you'd think someone would want to update things.
The blood bowl video game is getting a face lift and the it has a following. Next step would be to get the board game going again.

Necromunda still has a following and the folks at Yaktribe have done a "New Community Edition" (NCE) based on alot of fan input and where the development was headed when SG was shut down. They also have just about everything else published for Necro and a wealth of fan-made material.
We're going to use NCE for our periodic Necromunda campaign that starts in a month and will be doing plenty of AAR's and commentary on the rules. Really, Necromunda has so much free published material for it already that a group could play it for years without running out of new stuff.
That said, the IGOUGO nature of Necromunda and it's reliance on 40k style charts really means that a real update to moderernize the ruleset to a commercial level would probably require a full redo of the rules. I think Necromunda is probably fine as a game played by those who like the rules and style of play, but I'm not sure that even an NCE style update of the rules has what it would take to be commercially in the current wargaming market.

I think that "orlock" relating to the heresy gangers was just a typo. They're clearly delaque'ish There are a fair number of alternate options for some gangs if you're wililng to do weapon swaps.
-For Orlock, there are many other options. Catachans are one. Plenty of vests, and bandanas there. There's also a wealth of "biker" miniatures from various makers that can look pretty orlock with a weapon swap.
-Goliath are possible by mixing and matching from the various post- apoc bondage/metalhead types of figures (mostly influenced by road warrior)
-Cawdor can come from various medieval sources even easier if you can sculpt on the masks yourself (if it matters to you)

It was indeed a typo... I left off the punchline (the line was supposed to read 'who you callin' Orlock's, chummer? Were DeLaque, ya cretin!' - because I had made that same mistake at the table a month ago, calling a player's deLaque's 'Orlocks'....)
I also hadn't realized just how obscured the Heresy Miniatures logo was in the picture.... I need to wake up before typing, it looks like....
Going to fix it above....

Wargames Foundry's Street Violence range is more suited to a modern-day setting, but there's a few packs that might be useful; The Hardwire Troupe, Scabies' Punks and Yossa's Bonehead Skins, for example.
Mongoose Publishing's Judge Dredd range also has a goodly supply of street punks, Cursed Earth desperadoes and mutants that would work well, too.
