i cant find for the life of me what codex these things belong to or what faction they belong to like are they astra military or space marines or blood angels or what. ive googled them and wikipedia and ebery thing but no one bluntly says, oh hey the inquisition is part of the grey knights wich i assume they are. or are they a seperate faction that left the grey knights because of w.e. reason.. sorry for my spelling im half asleep and sorry if i asked an already answered question. i just need to know. also im realy looking for a new army and the mechanicus is rly catching my eye and its new.

They don't belong to any codex. They are their own factions and they tell you how you can take them.

Codex: Skitarii will be released in a week or two. It's simply not out yet. The models aren't out yet either.

Codex: Inquisition and Dataslate: Officio Assassinorum may both be purchased from Games Workshop/Black Library.

These eBook versions are cheaper than the physical books (there is no physical Assassins book) and can be read on literally any computer (Mac/Windows/Linux) and any modern smart phone that uses Apps (iPhone/Android).

They are their own Factions, just like Space Marines are a different Faction to Astra Militarum.

Just like any other Faction, you can take a Detachment from one of these books in addition to a Detachment from any other Faction to form your (Battle-Forged) Army.

thanks every one, the stats for mechanicus are already uploaded to battle scribe and they are looking so far like alot of 4 up saves, low weapon/battle skill, but are sooooo cheap to take, was like 65 points for a walker with 11 around. seem like its going to be one of the "fun" armys to play, nothing like rolling 32 dice at a group of terminators lol.

I should point out that "Adeptus Mechanicus" is kind of bad of a name for Skitarii force because there are also different admech affiliated army lists (like Thagmata / Ordo Reductor / Legio Cybernetica from 30k setting). Even though they aren't applicable to 40k games, this can cause some confusion depending on availability of context.

Supposedly their going to be an Ad Mech 40k codex and the skitarii stuff is the equivalent of the tempestus codex to AM

from what im picking up from white dwarf and the internet, the skitarri codex is a temporary thing until the ad mech codex comes out that will have all the skitarri plus hqs and what not, in wich the skittari will become more of a suppliment of sorts. but i dont know, i dnt work for gw, im just reading what i want to hear i think lol

Its most likely going to just like CrownAxe said. The Skittari will be units in the AdMec codex that comes later. The Skittari codex will give you unique formations and special rules and might even change the battlefield role of the rangers or whatever the other infantry name is. Meaning those units will be Troops in the Skittari codex but when those units are in printed in the second codex they might be elites or something. I noticed the mention of battle doctrines in the WD preview but none are actually listed (or I missed them) and those kinds of things might be different between the two codexs in the same way AstraMil and Scionshave different orders.

I play unbound every now and then, and I might pick up a walker to splash in. Think I'll wait to make a decision though.
