I've been out of the 40k loop for a ong time, finally have to time to play again. And was looking at GK, I've read the reviews on the new codex and thought I can work with that & picked up a mini rulebook.
Usually get my stuff off of forums and eBay, but went to GW site to check if anything new has been released since their last update and see everything is super expensive for PLASTIC! Nevermind the fact that nothing has changed in those boxes to justify the price increase.

Seems like there trying to kill the army off again with those prices and half-ass new codex.

Can anyone enlighting me on what's going on or should I just walk away again?

Any chance you're looking at the Australian site? They haven't had any price increases since the 5th ed book, the only new kit being a 10-man Strike Squad kit that works out slightly cheaper than 2 5-man sets.

Besides, it's not like the US prices aren't expensive, either.

$35 US for five guys is nothing, SM are paying $50 for five Veterans.

Very little has changed with GK; they have never really been a workable standalone army (except for a brief period in 5th where all their stuff was too tough), they play as an allied extra-melee/psychic-punch detachment to Guard or SM the way they have since 6e.

There was a brief patch of 5e where they were a massively powerful standalone army, thought I'd allow for that period.

(Honestly GK ought to be a melee elite unit in someone else's book, not their own; you can't make a Codex out of two units and four guns)

Gk Prices actually went down with the new release. They were $33 for 5 and now are $60 for 10. 10% lower price per model
