In the Warp, getting trolled by Tactical_Spam, AKA TZEENTCH INCARNATE

Hello everyone, I'm creating this new page to group my Inq28 stuff together a bit, as I think they deserve their own spot on the forums (and because they tried to take over my Death Ravens thread, which is heresy).

Bear in mind, I have little to no idea what the Inquisitor game is about. I started putting models together after longingly staring at 54mm models before realising they aren't getting produced anymore, and after following Krautscientist's amazing Inq28 blog, which inspired me to take a dive into the wondrous world of Inquisitors, acolytes, mutants and heresy.

My first attempt at making an Inq28 character was an Enforcer who used to work for a Rogue Trader House named House Vermeer, but who was 'acquired' by the Inquisition recently to bolster the ranks of Inquisitor [confidential].

A fairly simple job, starting from a WHFB Empire musketeer, some Cadian bits, an Inquisitorial icon from the GK and a bit of Green stuff.

I couldn't help myself after making this guy, and started digging in my bitz box for whatever interesting models or pieces I could find. Fate (or Tzeentch) smiled on me that day when I came across an old, if unassembled, friend: the Goblin King of Moria.

I knew I'd found a new member for my warband, because which self-respecting Inquisitor doesn't have some crazy little mutant running around stealing things? I promptly replaced his arms with Cadian and Catachan ones, and green stuffed the shoulder so he could hold the grenade launcher without dislocating his arm.

Two models don't make a warband however, and certainly not one that's supposed to be led by an Inquisitor. Which led to a little visit to the FLGS...

Which led to these guys getting added to the collection of half-crazy individuals:

First up, two models I might turn into Inquisitors:

This guy pretty much has it all: regal-looking armour, books strapped onto his body, a kickass mace as a weapon (not pictured), perfect Inquisitor-material I think. My only gripe is that he's perhaps a bit too... 'aggressive' pose-wise; I imagined the Inquisitor leading this rag-tag group of crazies would be slightly more eccentric, kind of laid back, letting his subordinates do all the heavy lifting (and getting them into massive amounts of trouble in the process).

This guy on the other hand has 'Ordo Hereticus' practically stamped on his forehead. Brooding stare, body and head covered by a cloak and hood and a calm posture. What more does an Inquisitor need? His weapon was less impressive; a giant wooden club with stones attached to each side is not exactly what I had in mind. Not sure what I'd replace it with though...

And two new goons to accompany them:

I love theses guys, but I'm afraid I'll have to modify them a bit to make them work. The plan is to turn these guys into Mechanicum thralls or gun servitor-esque characters, who get to play bodyguard for the important people while the more meaty acolytes can go die horribly. Thing is, I have no idea how to actually do that, which is a bit of a problem.
I'd like to replace/augment their heads to look more machine-like, a bit like servo-skulls, and their weapons would have to be more technologically advanced than the giant axes they were supplied with (as cool as those are). If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate the help!

So that about sums up what I have right now, comments or suggestions are always welcome, and thanks for stopping by

Well that was quick

And yes, he was, before I chopped his arms off to give him a lasgun (which may or may not be worse than the musket he had before that)

I started work on the scum yesterday, here's some WiP pics:

I took some inspiration from Kraut's way of painting mutant flesh, just a combo of Rakhart Flesh and Agrax Earthshade was all it took Turned out pretty well I think, I hope I don't ruin it when I go and add the eyes and teeth... also, should I go for some sickly yellow eyes and teeth, or more bone-coloured ones?

Those new additions are awesome! Looking forward to see what you're gonna do with the tech thralls metal is tough material to saw through though, and pretty tricky for conversions. But a hobby saw should do the trick.

The scum is coming along nicely. I would go for bone coloured teeth and yellow eyes.

Keep the good stuff coming!

Nice, looks fun! I know your feel when it comes to looking for an excuse to make wacky and wonderful conversions that have little or no conventional tabletop use.

Thank you! Maybe I should pick up one of those new Skitarii kits for some technological bits and bobs

Bone coloured teeth and yellow eyes; seems like the scum really needs a doctor's visit (although it would explain why the Enforcer tries to keep at least 2 metres distance from him at all times - which could have worked if the Inquisitor didn't pair them up all the time )

It has a lot more freedom attached to it, that's for sure I mean, I love my Space Marines and Orks, but Inquisitors offer a lot more diversity conversion and modelling wise

And if I ever decide to run a Chaos or Inquisition army, I guess these guys could have some use

I ran a word bearers with allied inquisition team (severely radical obviously) the other week to bring the pain to my cheesed out eldar enemy and it was great to see his face when I said "These mutated boys are acolytes with lasguns, these dark mech type chaps are jokero and this chap with the giant beam gun is an Xenos inquisitor with conversion beamer." (i was being beardy to put him in his place) but having those wacky models gave me the chance to do so.
TL : DR?
Let the creative juices flow!

Haha, that's a nice way to use them, that's for sure

Also, there's a delicious sense of irony in the Inquisition allying itself with the Word Bearers of all people

Yer I had to do some fluff making up on the spot to qualify him a little. and then just stood him in the back corner as far away from them as possible (6" rule) He managed to gun down a charging Autarch and his squad claimed several other kills but they never did kill the D cannon battery he was bought to counter lol. Beardiness backfired on me a little!

I've got some more work done on the Scum, here's a couple of pics:

He's really fun to paint, I like how his eyes turned out; somehow capturing a feel of panic, rage and confusion

I have no idea what I'm going to do for the basing though, most Inq28 characters seem to be based in more urban-esque environments....

Let me know what you think!

Thank you!

Inq28 is the 28mm alternative to the regular Inquisitor game (which is no longer supported by GW, and had sweet 54mm models), by the way

Not derailing at all dubovac

At least one of the two first models (the bald one and the hooded one) is going to end up as an Inquisitor, the two others are going to be Gun-servitors or Tech Thralls or something along those lines

So recently I got the sudden and uncontrollable urge to do something with the massive amount of bits I've gathered throughout the years, and what better way to use them than making models for INQ28? So I dusted off a few unopened blister packs, grabbed my Scum and Enforcer conversions and a horde of bits and built myself some models...

Now the model that set me on this path was the pilot model from the Assault on Black Reach set, which I'd acquired in a random bits lot some time ago. I felt that his stern expression and lovely coat deserved a higher status than that of mere 'pilot', so I decided to convert him into an Inquisitor, albeit one that looked as if he had already had a successful career before becoming an Inquisitor. This led to the creation of Inquisitor Lobov, former Lord-Admiral of the Saturnine Fleet:

I added a bunch of bits from the Empire General's kit to really make this guy stand out, and I think it worked out pretty well. His legs need to be shortened somewhat, though, as his proportions are a bit off now.

Of course, every Inquisitor has a bit of a retinue following him, and I figured that an Admiral would probably have some military personnel following him around. This led to the creation of Pilots Wilkes and Jenkins, a trooper nicknamed 'Burner' and a Navigator/Psyker:

Now this last model is my current favourite of the lot. There's just something... Blanchian about his appearance, and I absolutely love it. The base of the model is from Zealot Miniatures, and the head is from one of the Bretonnian kits I believe. His standard is from the Empire Battle Wizards kit (which is amazing, by the way).

I also wanted to add a bit of a Xenos factor into the mix, as Inquisitors tend to come in contact with them whether they want to or not, and sometimes the enemy of your enemy is really your friend. So here's two Xenos mercenaries, one Dark Eldar with a heavy weapon and a Tau infiltrator, who has cleverly disguised himself as a Guardsman.

From this point I went a little bit crazy, bashing all sorts of bits together to create some cool stuff. This led to a colourful variety of characters, which you'll see below.

A mad priest who lost the lower parts of his legs (and one of his arms), and now hovers around in his personal flying throne.

An Orlock ganger who saw the light of the Emperor and decided to serve him by chopping fools with a massive chainsword. RELIGION FTW!

An old Empire model converted into a mad demolition man, who carries more grenades than necessary and happily uses them in every situation.

And finally, a mutated ganger, built from all sorts of parts.

As I've mentioned before, I had a few blister packs lying around that I once bought for cheap in the FLGS, and I decided to include them into this group. Here's the four of them:

The noble, classic Inquisitor-type.

The evil Inquisitor, who's gone rogue and now uses foul necromantic magicks to gain power.

A Mechanicum Assault Construct (or at least, that's what I call it). I left this one as he was, as I really liked his pose.

The second Mechanicum Construct, this one converted into a more 'ranged warfare' variant. I'll have to do some tweaking before the gun and head fit nicely, but those are worries for another time.

So, that's the lot of them! Hope you guys enjoy these conversions, I certainly enjoyed building them Here's a final group shot of the lot:

Let me know what you think!
