With 9th coming around the corner, some of us at the store decided to start playing, a few times, get the motions.

I got a few unopened boxes, so I figured I'd put them to good use.

Grand Master with the Knights.

The BSB and Priest goes with the Halberds. I usually split the archers into 2 groups of 5 with my 1.5, one with the Halberds, the other with the handguns, which did nothing much. I might keep one group of 5 as detachment for the life Wizard and have them stick to one of the melee group, have the other 5 skirmish.

The Fire wizard will hang near one of the handgun squad.

WELCOME TO THE EMPIRE BUD, Home of Knights, griffons and DOOM.

Looking at ya list, I might suggest a few things here...

1. Make a single LV4 wizard with talisman of preservation, gonna last you a loooong time. (Perhaps anything other than fire or life, life doesn't suit this list, best with stanks and demis!)
2. Instead of Runefanf if you ever try, White cloak of Ulric + Ogre Blade + Charmed Shield is still mean, and survivable!
3. Never tried bare bones WP but could work! (One for the GM unit is also good, hatred on charge..Nastyyyy)
4. Handgunners are....Meh, alright I guess, but not quite worth it in my opinion, and 2 Hochland rifles may still not get you your result...Either some crossbows, or just one unit, and beef up halberds more!
5. Halberds could perhaps be a touch stronger as 28 is still pretty weak, and if you get enough...Decent horde formation right there!
6. 15 man swordsmen....Likely best as a detatchment, or as extra points for halberds and heroes, like I said...Until round 30ish (Even 30ish at times) state troopers ain't so good. Could make a good speed bump for nasties though.
7. Pistoliers are good directors!
8. In future, one unit of 3 demis will SHRED most stuff!
9. Cheapo LV1 Fire Wizards are useful if points spare!

1- I'd prefer having 2 wizards of 2 different winds than having all my eggs in one basket; kill that wizard and here's to my magic phase.

2-Yeah it looks good, but I prefer the auto wounding with no armour than the Runefang gives. As I face Chaos and their damn armour, bypassing than obstacle helps alot (especially when facing a lucky guy who likes to make his saves.)

3-I was short of point, so it was either cut the heavy armour or the shield....figured a +1armour/6+ward is better than simply a +1 armour.

4-I'd rather have my opponent loose 2 points of armour than simply one...Plus handguns are typical of an Empire army, Crossbows simply seems lacking for me.

5-I'd rather not try a horde formation, that's just begging to be surrounded from all sides and killed in one turn.

6-I had 17 trrops left,, 'figured some swordsmen ought to be a nice touch, better stats and armour than let's say spearmen, and since I am facing blocks of 15 marauders/Chaos Warriros, it should fit my gaming need for now.

7- Damn right, plus the models are good looking.

8-Yeah so I saw..just I'm not too keen on them or a steam tank...of course the model price is also a factor (70$ for a stank, what the hell?)

9-since I do go with a lvl 2 fire wizard, I might go with a shadow one if I take a third one.

Simply put everything but the Knights will die in combat with any elite army, less then 30 models even in a buss will not be steadfast for long and their damage output is almost non existent.

You need to figure what you want to do, go either mounted or foot troops, not both.

Also if models are expenisve for you try eBay, there is tons of miniatures for sale anywhere from 40-70% off.

Lastly when you figure what you want to play a lvl4 is always better then 2 lvl2 wizards, always.
