I am NOT rebasing nearly 25,000 points of models.

You'll only need to rebase 1000pts, the other 24,000 will be squatted anyway!

Of course that's going to be 1000pts of skaven slaves

And in 10th they'll charge you for the Nigerian Prince's datasheet

Or it might be meant to expand on DV.

Tiny tidbit FWIW: spoke to the owner of an FLGS I sometimes go to when I'm around there, and apparently he was told when he tried to restock the IoB box he'd just sold, that he really didn't have to (peculiar, since it's part of the mandatory basic stock list) and maybe he should hold off on it for a bit.
IMO as good as confirmation of IoB going OOP soon. (not sure if anything like this was posted before; I don't play GW systems anymore and pretty much just skim these threads out of morbid curiosity )

The Saurus on Cold Ones seem to be on an entirely new base itself.

And even if everything else can be explained away, that pretty much confirms we'll be seeing round bases of some sort come summer.

Fair enough. There obviously will be some system using them though.

...Ah. That scuttles that thought, then.

Page one of the main rules says it uses D6.
Admittedly it doesn't say it doesn't use other kinds of dice... but then the same could be said for 40k. 40k doesn't say you can't use other dice, it just says almost all dice rolls are made with D6s.

Good grief people, of all the things to criticize here... All of GW's rulesets are positively defined rulesets; only those things you are allowed to do are defined, nothing else is permitted. Until other dice are *specified* you roll D6's.
(I do applaud you for finding the one thing that's not actually an ambiguity or example of poor/no balance, though )

I didn't even read it, and i lol'd.

EDIT: Bah... funny url aside, its just a rehash of the Warseer / Dakka concerns making the rounds. I'm not surprised.

A game where you get mechanical bonuses for ignoring society's grooming standards, drinking while you play, screaming loudly, talking to no-one in particular and avoiding eye contact is just what miniatures wargames needed!

Oh - also for insulting your opponents!

Hitting it way out of the ballpark there. BoLS. And it doesn't even feel like a broken clock moment. Damn.

Games that get used in tournaments tend to have a highly competitive element leak into them over time until the tournament mindset dominates the game. Don't know why, just seems to happen.

I've played in one tournament in my whole life. Waste of a day. I grew out of competitive gaming years ago. I prefer narrative driven games, and spend more time playing the 40K RPG's than 40K proper.

And I want a balanced game with a tight unambiguous rule set because such a thing benefits everyone.

Benefits fluff bunnies most of all, if anything. Competitive players can just ignore 'bad' units and play with a (competitive) subset of units. The rest benefits greatly from not getting penalized for taking what looks good rather than that which gives the most bang for buck.

So we've got
Sigmar
Sigmaron - his castle
Sigmarite - mined from the remains of the old world (Mallus)
Sigmarabulum - the forges where they make weapons

Is this going to end up like murderfang with murderclaws?

That's just plain wrong. Quite sad that this is what is replacing the Warhammer World

Because the old world was known for its creative naming..

The Old World was an interesting backdrop for the Warhammer setting. Do you think that 'Sigmar' as the stem of all those background descriptions is creative or interesting?

What I think is that you must be running out of important stuff to carp about if this is what's really sticking in your craw right now.

So Sigmar has an ego. *shrug* Alexander the Great established how many Alexandrias? And that was like, real life and stuff.

OTOH the idea of fantasy is often to at least come up with something that is *more* interesting than history/real life.
