A few questions...if anybody might know....

1) Do retailers of GW products still get a 30 to 35 % discount on their stuff?

2) Do they get free shipping?

Just wondering because I am hoping to negotiate some trades/purchases with my FLGS and as they say....knowledge is power.

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Three!! Three successful trades! Ah ah ah!

Keep in mind that the margin is what keeps your FLGS functioning, how much of a discount they can get you may vary depending on how big of a store we're talking.

I believe the discount varies a lot depending on volume and distributor. Realistically they are getting GW stuff in at around 60-70% RRP, but as said they need to make some money with that remaining 30% to stay open.

Most can give you some sort of discount for making a big order through them though, but you still can't expect to get the stuff at trade cost.

The top discount for third party retailers is 40% off RRP before tax.

Rather than link to volume, GW operates various tiers, the more stuff you stock (and therefore the more space you dedicate to their product) the greater the discount. There are other criteria such as having painting stations etc. All this means that a full fledged hobby store is quite likely to be pulling down the full 40%, but a toy store that just stocks a few starters and core kits is unlikely to be.

They will not pay for shipping, but there may be a minimum order value which may take a smaller shop a week or two to accrue enough to place an order, this I'm not 100% on.

As others have said, they are bound to get a good discount on what they buy from GW, but they have overheads to think of, so the discount they can pass on to you won't be anywhere near the rumoured 40-50% They have to make a living too. Your best bet is offering to buy some high ticket items at full price with a view to getting some good discounts on smaller stuff.

You don't even need to offer full price on some of it. Just make up a list of what you want to order and ask them for a price.

My FLGS sells at 10% off normally, but will go to 20-25% if you make a larger order.

Full discount is actually 45% and free shipping.

Not that it should make a bit of difference in your "negotiations", as It does not take into account rent and other expenses that give his true profit margin. Most of which everyone conveniently ignores when they talk about how much a FLGS takes in profit.

That profit margin is always what everyone else refers to as "paycheck" or "salary". It's something the store owner needs and deserves to get.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.
