Not necessarily chaos-tainted Dark Mechanicum, I'm thinking more like Mechanicum that has turned to the Tau's greater good, would this make sense fluff-wise?

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

In the case of the Mechanicum it does make a lot of sense. Tau have nice juicy tech goodies that the Mechanicum wants to get its hands on. In some ways Imperial Tech is better (Warp Travel and Bioengineering) but in a lot of ways Tau Tech is better (Plasma Weaponry, Shields, Battlesuits, etc.). A rogue element of the Mechanicum might join the greater good for science! (Access to new toys)

With these new Skitarii models I'm thinking of doing some Dark Mechanicum but I salute your idea of Greater Good Mechanicum . Have fun!

I kind of disagree on Tau being better in those areas. Tau choose to lower the strength of their plasma weaponry, to improve safety. Flat out better would be Str7 with no over heat. Also shields, the IoM has nifty force fields that fit inside jewelry.

The IoM just doesnt have the wealth to invest in giving all it's troops the best weaponry.
Think of the soviet union. Well capable of building supersonic bomber, hydrogen bombs, nuclear submarines, and such. But most of it's army was arrayed to go to war on foot. Most of it's army was armed simply with an AK47 and some grenades. That is the IoM style, very high tech; but unable to spread that high tech around to the lower levels.

Tau are like your Elite Mercenary Army. They might not have the highest level of tech. They certainly arent developing cutting edge nukes, but they have night vision goggles, target markers, the best guns money can buy, and a high number of vehicles and tanks.

There is a whole subset of Heretech that delves into alien technology. Some of them are facinated by Eldar, some Necrons, some Tau.

There are even some who want to learn and emulate Ork Tek. Digga HereMek!

Turned? No. Co-operating? Yes/maybe.
Tech Priests only care about two things: power and influence, and they have no problems with adapting xenos tech to human use.

Mechanicum is all one big scheming and backstabbing fest, where technology is the only currency.

Its the job of the Skitarii now, to collect data and the Ad Mech just mobilizes them and takes the Tech they want, off of the xeno.
So they have the things they are interested in, but none of the hassle with sharing....

the admech are a cult. this is important to note, as a cult they have their own ideology etc. technology for the sake of technology. knowledge is power. and it's important to collect and hoard knowledge, and use it as currancy. thing is the greater good is likewise essentially a cult/religon (and even the emperor. who, at least when dealing with humans, makes an etheral look like an uncharismatic boor, was unable to convince them to abandon their ways and embrace the Imperial truth) and I suspect the two would have fundamental clashes ("share my lives work with archmagos Bob? NEVER!") so admech elements joining the Tau Empire seems kinda unlikely. they guard their independance too well to submit to alien overlords, considering even the relationship with the IoM is occasionally a begrudging one.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
