I tend to try and tailor my units to a specific function, and more often than not, when I take an extra weapon here and there for tactical flexibility I find that my points would have been spent better sticking to a particular theme for the unit. The plasma talons are really good and you'll get more out of them since the rad and stasis grenades have to be fired at 12" range, a lot closer than you'd normally even really bother getting to a unit.
I feel like the grenade launcher gives you more tactical options, sort of like a missile launcher does really, it's just that range for 2 of your shells seems annoyingly close for making the most out of those options. So in the end, I'd rather my unit just have another plasma talon roll and not have to think about it.
