Thanks, guys!
The bits are from a pile of kits and these pics show MOST of them...
The main thing I tried to do was break up the silhouette of the original craft...
When I assembled the kit, it took a but of cutting and sanding, but I placed the wings on backwards so they swept forward instead of back. I left off the sensor pod and used part of the hull to give the cockpit a more armored appearance (again with some sanding required for a good fit). The rest were just leftovers from the bits box:
Half of a las-cannon from a land raider, a space marine homing beacon (from the scout kit?), two rhino doors, part of a leman russ cannon (but like Zambro, I have no idea which kit it was from), a hatch from an Imperial vehicle on the top, a light strip from the rogue trader era rhino kit, an Imperial Eagle, fuel tanks from a helstorm cannon, a few spare hatches (no idea), half a dozen handles repurposed as a ladder, and some tile plasticard. I also magnetized the flying stand plate from a valkyrie so I could represent the craft flying (I'll show pics of that on my blog in the future).
Again, the main thing was to remove as many bits that gave away the 1:72 scale (mainly the doors - covered by rhino doors), add some bits that are obvious
40k pieces to echo recognizable
40k tech (again the rhino doors, etc.), and make the craft less symmetrical. I was never really into Deep Space Nine so it wasn't too hard for me to be able to overcome my suspension of disbelief (oh, look the millennium falcon with a rhino door).
Hope that helps!
