Looking at 2 different buddy squads.
4 Fire Dragons + Exarch (fast shot) + Archon with webway, all mounted in a Falcon (400 points minimum)

Or
Cast of players (mask on the seer), Archon with webway, armor of misery, and 2nd archon with achangel of pain, mounted in a raider (551 points minimum).

The first unit has been working for me. It lands, the fire dragons disembark (leaving the archon inside), the melta guns battle fate and roast a tank. The Falcon fires it's pulse laser and bright lance into the side/rear of another target.

The Cast of Awesome Players bubbles -4 leadership, and forces multiple Ld tests (many at another -2 for a total of Ld-6) doing a ton of wounds to a small part of the battle field.
Arch Angel of pain is forcing Ld-6 on all units within 9", taking a no save wound for each point failed by. Phatasm grenade launchers (2 of them) fire and force another 2 Ld checks (at base Ld to -4 depending on range). Death Jester fires and tries to force another check at -2 to -6. Shadow seer takes telepathy for a 3D6-4 Ld test worth of wounds.

While I'm liking the smoking crater that the Cast can create, the huge flaw is fearless opponents, and that it's so many points off the table, I'd be worried about the rest of the army with so much in reserve.

I would have thought the Archon disembarks with the Fire Dragons or else you technically have two units inside but I digress

Fire Dragons work well for me. I also like Wraithguard with D-Scythes (but probably won't bring them if rumours are true).

Forcing checks is kinda inconsistent even if its fun as feth.

I want to put my hat down on Fire dragons or Wraith guards as well
Seems to be the most consistent currently.

Commoragh (closer to the bottom)

I want to try this out so bad, But my group would just give me a glare for being this cheesy. I would have to use this against one of my more competitive friends.

They are a single unit while embarked, but Independant characters do not have to leave with the unit when it disembarks. Nor vice versa.

On topic I have had great success with the fire dragons, but I personally put them in a raider. The only time it has not worked out I was incredibly unlucky. If you include an autarch it comes in very consitantly, and almost always will remove something the turn it comes in.

The cast of awsome players sounds fun, but then space marines. If you want something consitant, or competitive stick with the fire dragons. For a one off couldnt care less if you win kind of match its worth a try.

Wraith guard in a wave serpent with the archon sounds awsome, but I havn't gotten to try it. Being able to walk out in a line instead of deep striking in a bubble makes a big difference for the usefullness of D-scythes. Personally I wouldn't take the sycthes. Too expensive and not as good against monsterous creatures and vehicles.

I'm leaning toward both now.

495 points for the package
Archon with blaster, phantasm, webway and armor of misery
Raider with dark lance
Cast of players (caress for everyone x5)
Level 2 shadow seer w/mask
Stock Death Jester

375 points for package 2
Archon w/blaster, webway
5 fire dragons (including exarch w/fast shot)
Falcon with bright lance

I've done the wraith guard thing, but the Falcon team can engage 3 different vehicles (6 melta shots into one, 3 S8 AP2 shots into another, and a S8 AP2 lance into a third).

The balance of the army is more durable units, to avoid being tabled until the knock out punches land.

I like the Fire Dragon loadout better.

And make sure to take an Autarch as the HQ for Eldar to get that extra +1 to reserve rolls.

Why Firedragons and not Wrathguard?

Points?

I've done two WWP's with one full of firedragons and one full of medusae. I never tried it with wraithguard, but I'm sure it would play pretty similarly. The medusae were great for wiping out death star units like farsightbomb, but when I only have space for one I definitely pick the fire dragons because they always have a good target (tough vehicle, monstrous/gargantuan creature, elite infantry, they do it all).

They kill knights. Fire Dragons disembark from the transport, and line up down the line of the knights front/side.
Then they battle fate to run and shoot. This lets them move out of the arc of the invulnerable save and fire at the knight unprotected.
