I know this has been discussed before but I am still not getting it. Do you get a cover save if your unit is hit by a small blast template? I cant find it in the rulebook.

Some say the line of sight changes to the middle of the blast template when the unit gets hit, is this true?? So if you are behind a cover (and your unit is 25% obscured from the opponent that is shooting you) and the blast template lands in the middle of your unit, you get no cover saves??

If so, why is it when a tank gets hit from a blast template, and say the temp. travels to the back of the vehicle or side.. you calculate the strength vs the armor from the side of the shooter?

Please help if you can!

You're confusing "blast", "barrage" and "template" weapons. While they are all quite easy to confuse, they tend to be different.

Blast weapons use the template to determine how many hits you get. However, they do not (unless they specifically say so with the Ignores Cover rule) ignore cover, and casualties caused by it are pulled from the closest model, as normal shooting attacks. Vehicles are hit in the facing that the shot came from.

Template weapons (such as flamers) ignore cover as a part of being a weapon with "Template" as the range. Wounds are pulled from the front as normal shooting, and vehicles are hit in the facing that the shooter is in front of.

Barrage is a special rule used by some blast weapons. They are weapons that measure wounds from the center of the final position of the blast marker, rather than the front.

Ahhhhhh ok that makes much more sense now. I was thinking barrage was basically the same as blast just with more templates lol. thanks a lot!
