My question is do you think that they can be even slightly competitive or are they a waste of time.
Keep in mind for less than 100 points you can have an AV 11 vehicle with S7 AP3 large blast and 12 man transport capacity.

Keep in mind with the "new" rules for it you don't have to make it a boomwagon (now killakannon no boomgun for some reason)

You could do a Scorcha wagon with 2 Scorchas and put whatever you want inside. (2 because 90% of the time you couldn't shoot 3)

You could use it as just a more heavily armed and armored Trukk (3 Big Shootas or Rokkits)

Or close up the top with an ard case and use it as a blast laying vehicle

They are good as killkannon platforms but their problem is there are just not enough Heavy Support slots to bring enough of them and the other useful HS units that are needed.

Take up heavy support, and can't be dedicated transport. It was a pathetic GW afterthought, much like the rest of the codex.

Not bad but mek gunz are generally much better.

Well if they were a dedicated transport like they were for Lootas in Imperial Armour 8 they may see some renewed use.

Problem is the FW gun wagon completely outperforms it and is a dedicated transport.

I like Boom Wagon.
