I'm building a small Nemesis Strike Force to augment my main Imperial army. I'm thinking a librarian to accompany a terminator squad and one or two dread knights.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how best to outfit the librarian (probably to support the terminators)?

Thanks

If he's not lvl 3 the staff is cool for adamantium will. If he's lvl3 I like halberds(free) or hammers(melta bomb price).

What would you select for his other weapon? Any special issue things or relics that are especially good?

The Libby is a great model due to it now being the cheapest thing we can take, but its not a model you really want to spend points on.
Depending on what you want to use him for there are very few upgrades that fit him.
The book might be useful if he is just a santic caster. but other then that his CC skills are terribele, but if you think he will be making an aperance then the CC weapon should be (like mentioned above) a hammer or halberd.
the way i would consider making him assuming he is in a squad that can protect him would be
Librarian 110
ML3 25
hammer 5 (its best if he isnt on the from lines in a combat so the (I1) is nice)
Domina Libera 25
155

To give a good explanation of what you should take i would have to know what squad he will be traveling with and your general strategy.
I lean more towards the Brother Captain/Grand master (depending on your preference) and i am interesting in trying out crow now that he is a bit of a billy bad $$$. lol

yah the domina liber heresis is cool this is the only one I feel is worth it at all. you can always give him a gun like a storm bolter so he can shoot, but I typically just keep him cheap(this coming from a tournament player) as someone who would rather have boys than toys.

I like to keep my Librarian simple.

Lvl3, Liber Daemonica, and a Storm Bolter.

The Stave is actually a pretty good weapon because with Hammerhand from his accompanying squad he reaches Str8, which is baller. It also gives you Adamantium Will, which is the icing on the cake.

and because GK libby's have psychic hoods it spreads that out on a 12" bubble. besides hammers its probably my favorite.

Interesting. I had him set up at Lvl 3 + hammer (even converted the arm out of bits), but now you're making me reconsider the staff. The reason I chose the hammer was just to give the unit a bit more punch. I've got 1 sword w/ psycannon, three glaves and one hammer in the termies. Thought and extra hammer (for 5 points) might be useful in case they came up against some heavy armor or high T models.

So what I'm getting from you guys it that in general... most of the toys don't matter a whole lot. Staff and hammer are good, though the staff provides some nice extra bonuses. His main role is as a support psycher so keep him cheap and efficient.

Does that sound right?

Yep, that's basically it. In my current GK allies, I take:

Librarian, ML2, Staff, Storm Bolter, rolling on Sanctic
5 Termies, 3 Halberds, 1 Hammer, Psycannon.

Also, be sure to note they are in the Nemesis Detachment, as you then get T1 DS rolls and the ability to run+shoot on the drop. Sure beats ObSec when it's just the one Troops choice.

For a Dreadknight, I like the H. Psycannon and H. Incinerator setup, with a Teleporter and (if points allow) a Sword. Very fast, very shooty, very scary.

Yeah, that was a question of mine early on. My current DK has the flamer and sword, but nothing else. I asked about locally and most folks suggested a second gun wasn't necessary. I'm sure the extra fire-power is nice though. As I'm looking to this as an allied force, I'm really not trying to beef up the points cost. Just want a very efficient force that can bring all the goodness of the GK without being so expensive that it tanks the rest of my army.

Once you put the second gun on the dreadknight they start to eat up points really fast, BUT the firepower can be devastating against a unit unprepared for it, especially on a Deep Strike Drop so there's a balance there. Dreadknights are also not that easy to kill so you'll probably get a couple cracks at your opponent with both guns.

The main thing about the sword is that it allows you to gain force and daemonbane for your CC attacks. The fact that it's master crafted can also come in a little handy.

As for your libby, my personal preference is an ML 3, with Stave, and the Domina book casting Sanctic powers. Sanctic is actually an extremely useful discipline beyond the situational primaris. Dropping Vortex bombs that move around, gating around the board with Gate of Infinity, sniping characters or special weapons with Purge Soul, improving invulnerable saves with Sanctuary, burning up hordes with Cleansing flame, these are all actually really good if you use them right. If I have ten points left over I'll usually toss a combi-melta on him since you don't really have too much ranged AT anywhere else in the book. Just remember that libbies are support characters and not CC so try to avoid getting stuck in with them.

My main Libby is PML3 with Staff, Stormbolter and Liber, although I occasionally add Melta Bombs. Working on magnetizing his weapon arm to swap the SB out for Combi's, of which I'm leaning towards to Combi-Plasma due to Rapid Fire.

My other Libby also goes PML3, has a Stormbolter and a Halberd which goes as a Soul Glaive if the mood takes my. Also working on magnetizing the weapon army for swappable Combi's.

OK guys, thanks. You've really helped me a lot. Here's the figure I've come up with. Keep in mind it's cobbled together out of bits which is why it has a hammer rather than a staff. I think I'll see if I can find or order the bits necessary to make another with a staff as that seems like the better option for a support character. My thanks to you all for your expertise and kind attention.
