They are only range 36. I don't recommend a static gunline for chaos , it doesn't play to their strengths.

Unless you use Rapier batteries. Suddenly, you have some great ranged support. Add the sorcerer to one of the batteries and use the Artillery's T7 (majority toughness), behind an aegis with shrouding.
Or add a Crimson Slaughter sorcerer with Divination for rerolls etc.

yeah, Forgefiends aren't terrible but for completely static gunline support they are pretty bad.
They can move 6" and still fire everything to full effect
They have a 5++ meaning they dont need to look for cover as much
They have WS and Attacks, meaning they arent as vulnerable to combat, and can actively contribute in the right circumstances

A sicaran is another great support unit. Automatically Appended Next Post: Sillycybin wrote:So it would be better to drop the aegis and focus on moving the forge fiends forward?
Until T.O. accept forgeworld I figure its better to work with the basic codices and supplements.
I see what your saying about the rapiers
ah, saw this after my post. Hmm yea that makes a gun line harder to do. Still, I wouldn't move them forward unless you have to get in range.
You might want to consider using havoks with upgraded missile launchers. They cost the same but can threaten hordes, armour as well as air. Maybe mix the two. One forgefiend for the extra shots and one unit of havocs for the increased flexibility and anti air. They also have better BS.

Well we as Chaos hardly do Fire Support well, especially from a distance. My latest FS plan is to take 3 oblits and a Forgefiend to split my fire support up a bit. Oblits give a lot more flexibility and durability as well. So far for me Dinobots have really just drawn a ton of fire with minimal return
