Well there are lots of good options.

Rebegades for firepower
.chaos marines (including the suppliments) for mixing in powerful characters,.
Daemons for summoning and grimoire shenanigans
Belakor because he's awesome .

And that's just the battle brothers.

Think it depends on how much points you're going for.

From a 2k pts army I struggle to spare any points to get any allies.

With the Slaughter Cult and the fasty one (Forget it's name), I'd be maxing out on units to DS in and take advantage of the Slaughtercults FnP 2nd power bonus.

Over 2k though I'd probably take CSM for some ranged weapons.

Renegades and Heretics seem like a better choice for long range support though. You could even get some cheap bodies to help screen your assault troops that way as well.

I'd go with the Purge Detachment from IA: Vraks. It's all Nurgle all the time, but pulls from Renegades and CSM, but everything must be Nurgle Marked or not Marked at all. And there's no Fast Attack so no Nurgle Bikes. However, the KhorneKin has Bikes, Raptors, Heldrakes and such up the wazoo and that's where a lot of damage output can come from. Now, there is a little tax with the Purge, but not much. And it's an HQ tax, not a Troops tax. 1+ units of a certain kind of Company Command Squad type thing, and the other mandatory is two Elites. Plague Marines for instance. And the Blasts and Barrages get this nice little special rule with lasting effects on the Battlefield. You want long range fire, there ya go. Obliterators, Leman Russ tanks, Artillary, Forgefiends Dedicated to Nurgle, other big and bad IA 13 tanks Dedicated to Nurgle.

I wouldn't use outside help to screen the Assaulters. KhorneKin is about units dying almost as much as killing. You screen with Cultists, throw them at the enemy and when they die, you get a Blood Point. You throw Zombies at the enemy, sure they're 30pts for ten (IA points, not CSM) but you get zero bonus when they die like everything else.
