Hi all,

I've got a question that's stumped me bad enough to draw me out of a long lurking spree..

In my copy of the new Eldar codex, Eldrad's staff is listed as 'Melee (3+)', rather than just 'Melee'..

Am I right in thinking this means that it always hits on a 3+? I can't find any reference to this mechanic in the rulebook, nor any other discussions on the matter online.. (I'm starting to wonder if it's just a typo in my copy!). Are there any other units/weapons with this rule around?

Thanks!

Denmark.

Does sound like a typo. Is everything else on the weapon there, or is something missing? If so, this might be what was supposed to be there.

Is it the codex or the digital edition? IIRC the digital edition does say "melee (3+)", not sure what else it could be. I can't check it until I head back out to out to my store or get someone to send me a screencap of their copy.

Yeah it's the digital version, that's exactly what I see.

Anyone with the physical copy got the same thing?

The physical copy just lists 'Melee'.

Probably a typo, like Reaper being spelled "Reeper". I think I also saw the profile for the voidraven bomber in the digi-dex.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Rats, could have been a good buff.

In this brave new world of GW sloppiness, is there any etiquette on which version is 'correct'?

Hypothetically, if the digital version is correct, does it actually map to a real rule, or is it just gibberish?

I think going by "digital versions are full of mistakes" is wildly accepted

The Adepta Sororitas Digital ed had, in the index:

Penitent Engine: WS 4 - BS 2 - S 5 - T 11 - W 11 - I 10 - A 3 - Ld 3 - Sv 3

That made them amazing, but was obviously a typo for Armour: F-11 Side-11 R-10

They do this stuff sometimes, tempestus book I specifically recall the hotshot volleygun getting hot in the entry, but in the reference section it doesn't. That one though was easy to get consensus on though, because in the AM codex they don't get hot and I think the digital didn't have gets hot either.

As for this... I want to lean towards this being a typo? If not, it means the weapon would always hit on 3+. I mean, that is a possibility after all, but I generally want to lean more towards hard copy....

Throw in too that everyone hates Eldar, so we don't want you to get anything else special

I'm pretty sure it means that on a 3+ Eldrad can use his staff of Ulthamar. On a 1 or 2, he's using it as a crutch that round. He is pretty old, ya know.

Or, it's just a typo.
