Tallarn - I have almost 100 of them and growing, cause if you're doing fanatical religious warriors they can't be beat.

Necromunda gangs - have over 100 of them, some of the best damn models GW ever made. Mostly redemptionists and Cawdor but with almost all of the rest mixed in.

Metal Cadians - Can't stand the look of the plastic ones but the old metal ones are just what sci-fi light inftantry should be. Going on 50+ of them to use as Scions/Storm Troopers.

Old IG Plastics - Don't have any but love the look, wish they'd revisit them.

Plastic Catachans - Sinfully ugly models but they have potential. I really like the fact that lasguns are completely seperate so weapon swaps are easy. Did 50+ as an urban SWAT team force with MP-5s and face masks. Did another 100 or so cross bred with plastic zombies as my first IG army.

Empire militia - Best DAMN plastic kit GW ever made, so so so many options. Converted a bunch of them as allies for my old Daemon Hunter force.

There was a Tanith box set. Still available. I have a couple of them mixed in my guard units. Listed as Gaunts ghosts in the web store.

My favorite is my home bew one that I created myself and uses whatever models/combinations i like to make them characterfull.

Following that is DKoK for their looks. Although i often see members bragging on and on about their DKoK army and when I look at their pictures of their army, they have only 25 guardsmen. The bare minimum they can have and still be called a "guard" army with the rest being nada but tanks. lol Not that I would call anyone here this but I have heard those types of players called "posers".

Mordians. I like the models and fluff.

tallern. I like the models

The Death Korps of Krieg

The DKoK are the most fatalistic, unremitting badasses of the Imperial Guard. They hammer their foes into oblivion with unending volleys of heavy artillery, mass infantry assault the horrors of chaos and the doom of xenos invasions with lasguns and bayonets, and readily sacrifice their lives to achieve the divine forgiveness of the God-Emperor. The sons of Krieg don't run when when their ranks are getting blown to pieces, they just keep advancing, wave after wave. Atonement through death!

I like my Krieg army replete with infantry, running the "Forlorn Hope" and "Unstoppable Advance" from IA12.

3/ Just like Evil Inc did, I'd put my homebrew regiment top of the list, because they're awesome.

2/ Kriegers btw. Their Commissars and officers are just wow. Just like their regular infantry. And grenadiers. And engineers. And Death Riders!

1/ Harakonis Warhawks/Elysians.

Honourable mention: Salvar Chem Dogs, Steel Legion.

GW. Staph. Please Staph :

-1 / Regular cadians; they are suppose to be the finest of the IG but are just dull. And their faces... Why?

-2/ Catachans, aka Naked Rambo-like and ultra-sterotyped dudes with not any kind of credibility on the battlefield.

Vallarn are also pretty cool. But Vostoyans are pure awesome. In fact, I am starting a Vostroyan Army now. Just ordered a Vostroyan command squad from Ebay for an even $20. If IG was only Cadian, I wouldnt even think about starting an IG army.

I like Cadian with their weird chamber pot helmets.

All other regiments are just cheap ripoffs of some already existing army or theme. And the "I'm so grimdark that I put gasmasks on horses too" (yes, I'm aware that gasmasks for horses exists) theme even got two. Just lame.

Maybe the cheapest one of all are the Catachans. Every. Single. Guy. With. A. Flashlight. Is. Rambo. Seriously.

No1: Tallarn - Al-quaeda in 40k!
No2: Steel legion - Nazi soldiers in 40k!
No3: Mordian iron guard - the SS in 40k!

I don't have any affection for the ideologies or intent of the various groups i've listed here, but if I was going to collect a guard army one of these would be the way to go!

I love the old gritty German look to models and the unwavering loyaltly and mindset that both the DKoK and Steel Legion have.

I love the Arbites because the last line of defence against the horrors of average folks. thats awesome! and the models are Fething amazing!

Steel Legion has alot taken from WW1 british and WW2 fallschirmjäger

DKoK is almost a spitting image of WW1 German Trench Troops

Mordian Iron Guard is more of just a Service Dress uniform from most branches not the SS

Steel Legion uniforms are based on numerous real world armies. The gas masks are akin to a WW1 British gas mask design. The majority of it is akin to the German WW2 paratroopers or mechanized infantry. among other little bitz and pieces of real world, World War 1/2 kit.

Mordians more seems to have elements of dress uniforms of various real world armies combined with earlier uniforms of the Napoleonic wars such as Prussia.

Since Im not allowed to say
1. Mine
2. My Own
3.My regiment

Ill put down

Death Korp, Cadians, and Steel Legion in no real order. I can't decide.
