I'm trying to pinpoint more exactly when the use of Butcher's nails became more prevalent in the World Eaters legion.

In the Horus Heresy Book I: Betrayal it's mentioned that after the Ghenna Massacre (Elsewhere called the Ghenna scouring) rumours began flourishing that Angron had ordered widespread prycho-surgery around the time of the Ghenna massacre.

It's thus implied that such implants were used for some time but not widespread before this point in time.

However, I can't find any mention however of when the Ghenna massacre took place. Obviously it's during the great crusade some time after Angron was reunited with his legion so I would presume somewhere in the later half, but how close to the outbreak of the Heresy?

Searching is made somewhat more difficult by the fact that there is a Gehenna campain undertaken in the 41st millenium. (Of BloodAngel and Necron Bro-Fist fame )
