I got no answers in response to this question in another thread about scale, so I made my own thread. I'm wondering if the 32mm scale metal miniatures from Human Interface - Nakamura Tower (board game on Kickstarter) might be appropriate subs/proxies for Infinity miniatures?

They seem to be the appropriate proportions (read: not "heroic" scale) but they might be too large or too small if the scale-creep is really as pronounced as people say it is. I don't own the suspect miniatures so I don't know.

There aren't really any appropriate scale comparison pictures to use to measure against, as opposed to Maelstrom's Edge which has plenty of shots comparing the scale of its minis against other brands' minis and standard rulers, but here are some good shots of what the models might look like on the tabletop

All credit to Postindustrial Games of course.

and here's the kickstarter address if anyone wants to do some more exact analysis and professional eyeballing

if this works, getting a great brand new game and 35+ minis to use for Infinity for 150ish dollars is a great deal. So what do you guys think?

Also, shameless plug: you should all pledge so I... uh... *we* can get my... er... *our* sweet sweet stretch goals

Given how contentious the issue of scale is *just within Infinity*, I don't think there's any way to say for sure without multiple direct comparisons. I'd confidently say, though, that if CB's scale creep doesn't bother you, then surely these will be at least close enough.

It probably would have been better to post the comparison picture with Infinity miniatures, although I too would like to see it with a more variety. It also should have been clearly labeled since not everyone may recognize the miniatures used for comparisons. I only recognize the Nomad Intruder but I think there is a second Infinity miniature in the mix.

Second miniature from the right in the first picture is Spetsnaz (wearing a barrette) with MSR.

Yeah, and in the bottom picture the second from the left is an Interventor and, of course, 3rd from the end is a MSR Intruder. So, I guess they look close enough for me, but some people are certainly more picky about scale, and some are surely less so. It's just up to you how much deviation you'll tolerate.

Think some of the miniatures from that game look cool. Especially the ones which look more like armed civilians/undercover operatives.

Will be good when the RPG is out, can see this kind of stuff being useful for cross-over games.

Quite a few would look awesome for aleph. I can't wait for my KS to arrive, as they would also make excellent character figs for the RPG.

Beret. A barrette is a different thing (at least in my part of the world. The first is a hat, the second is a hairclip thing girls put in their hair to hold it in place.
(electricians use a small plastic widget with the same name to terminate/join live wires sometimes too).
They probably have the same root, though - being both stolen french words. (as in English stole them from French).

More of a 'the French came down and rammed then down the Englishmen's throats (following Hastings)', usually.

The Normans weren't French, they were French speaking Vikings independent of the French crown, actually a nominal fief.

Doesn't physical model size not matter because of the sillouhette rule?

That's correct, gives you a lot of freedom with the basing and miniature posing.

However with regard to basing it is generally advisable to keep the base size right. Height, not an issue. 'Incorrect' diameter will be annoying during games.

Those really are great figures, and they seem to be dead on in terms of scale. I'll have to pick some up when they get to retail.

This whole thread is so shamelessly designed to sell Nakamura Kickstarter miniatures to Infinity players that it wont surprise me if a CB lawyer shows up at any moment.

CB aren't GW.

They don't have a pack of legal dogs ...

Well, come to think of it, GW sacked their in-house dog-team after they lost an unwinnable legal case.

These models are nice, and the game looks good too. Very much a winning combination.

Since I have roughly 5k points of Infintiy I'm sure CB won't care if my ALEPH look a little different from everyone elses...

Unless you're playing in an ITS with CB overseeing it, not having the official minis doesn't really mean a lot.

Sure, miniatures by other companies are technically not allowed by the strictest reading of the ITS rules - but in the end it's down to the ACTUAL TOs, and I've yet to meet a truly anal-retentive Infinity TO who looks upon proxies the same way WM/H does at conversions.

That said, some of the minis look nice. Not nice enough for me to invest in this hybrid card/minis/roleplaying/boardgame thing.

Might grab some down the track, though - if it succeeds. Because I like the minis, not because I see them as ideal proxies for "[insert X game here]".
