Finally got around to finishing the first batch of my first BFG Imperial Fleet! I have another small batch to come with some bigger ships, but those require some GS work so might take a little longer. This took roughly two days to paint, mostly with spray cans and airbrushes. The base colour is Copperchrome from the Montana Gold spray range, which gives a really nice shiny pinkish colour, highlighted with VGA Polished Gold, and the prows done with a mix of VMA rust colours. The whole fleet was then gloss varnished and oil washed with a light coat of Lamp Black, which was then removed from the prow plates. Super-fast!

Gothic-class Cruisers

Dictator-class Cruiser

Tyrant-class Cruiser

Dauntless-class Light Cruisers (Missile variant)

Dauntless-class Light Cruisers (Lance variant)

Sword-class Frigates Squadron A

Sword-class Frigates Squadron B

Cobra-class Destroyers Squadron A

Cobra-class Destroyers Squadron B

Cobra-class Destroyers Squadron C

Good old BFG.

How to paint Skeletons the way I do if that's something you'd fancy trying.

Thanks, guys. Here's the final part of the fleet. One battleship, a couple more cruisers, and then three battlecruisers with extra bits added onto the command bridges - to make them look different from the 'regular' cruisers...

Apocalypse-class Battleship

Mars-class Battlecruiser

Overlord-class Battlecruiser

Jovian-class Battlecruiser

Two more cruisers - a Tyrant-class and a Dictator-class

Gorgeous fleet. I hope to have my own that size one day.

Thanks guys - managed to play my first game with them the other day where their superior paint completion won them the days against the green-primed Space Orks...

Looks great! A couple of questions though:

In that first pic, is that a leveling laser you're using to check firing arcs?

Also, aren't those blast markers a little too small for THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE 41ST MILLENNIUM?! (In all seriousness though, they look really cool, where'd you get them?)

Yes, sort of - they're from Army Painter, who used to do sideways line lasers in pen form for BFG and similar games. Apparently they were discontinued as nobody bought them, but they're really useful to see firing arcs!

And yes, they're the Litko Micro Blasts - they're a little bit smaller than the flat BFG ones, but we didn't have any of those, and wanted something a bit more 3D!
