Units behind another unit getting cover save's so why don't the unit in front take save tests also?
My house rules : The target unit takes cover saves of 4+ behind another unit but if any of these saves are passed the unit in front takes a wound for each save.
Designer note : if you are in a building with a AV or behind a tank when receiving cover saves from them take the facing from the direction they are being shot from.
I like this one and if you dont mind me stealing it i'll bring it up to my local gaming group and see about working it into our house rules, however i do agree with the others
on the countercharge and "stray bullets" special rules they seem a tad bit more tedious than this one. The idea of
40k i believe is that everything that is happening in a turn is supposed
to be simultaneous. It is split into turns and phases so it is fair and easier for the players to understand. So if you shoot with a unit and then charge and do close combat on your turn and then
on the enemies turn he has a unit deep strike in and shoot up a different unit of yours in "game time" all those things happened at once. Just like if you watch any video for
40k for any of the
games they have created bolters are automatic weapons, I spent 5 years in the army as an infantrymen and i can promise you ive never seen an automatic weapon shoot just two rounds. They
do it to cut down on die rolls. I can understand where your are coming from and your rules are nice. I just think they add an extra layer to the game thats not needed as mentioned before.
The cover rule though thats something that can be done fairly quickly and i will give that a shot in my local games.
