Rules wise is the base required to field the arquebus?

The rules "assume" models are mounted on the bases they are provided with.

Yes, but GW's response to questions regarding the new 32mm bases is to use whichever makes the model look cooler.

gotta love gw...

regardless the rule still exists for putting models on the bases they come with. that is the base for that model, anything else is not.

its the same reason you cant take gretchin and put them on MC bases, just because it looks cool doesn't work with other players often.

tbh what is the problem with that base?

As indicated the rules ask that a model be put on the base they come with.

The box contains this base + 10 small round base.

If you want to have your arquebuse on a small round one, there is technically no problem other than it will look a little silly.

No. The rules assume models are mounted on the base they are 'supplied with'. The arquebus is supplied with the oval base, not a round base.

Agreed. The assembly instructions make it very clear that the Arquebus guy is supplied with an oval base. All other models are supplied with round bases.

The kit only comes with one long rifle and one big base. It looks possible to make more rifles with moral guns and rod but the base is another problem.

Thanks
