Hey everyone,

I've been a longtime lurker and decided to start a project blog here at Dakka. I'm currently in the process of painting my Tau army and hope to finally turn the tide in the war on grey plastic.

Over the next couple of days I'm gonna post what I've completed so far.

So, here's my Tau stealth suits:

Hope you like them.

Cheers,
Kenza

Looks like a great start. Have you picked a sept? WIll you be doing vanilla Tau or Farsight? Any particular theme for the force (suit heavy, fish of fury, gundam triptide, etc)?

Hey guys,

thank you for your kind words.

@Warboss: Yup, it's the Sa'cea sept, with alight variation in colour scheme. I never liked the blue-grey that was presented in the fluff. Tau are all about stealth, as such I tried to give city-fighting Tau the colours of a ruined city. Of course, they now lack the contrast you can usually create with bases, but it's absolutely intentional here.

It's all vanilla Tau with me, thematically I want them to be pretty balanced, a fast reaction city-fight force.Suit-heavy is a big no-no for me, I really don't like the design of the standard XV-8 suits and am not particularly fond of the FW designs either. I love the broadsides though, but prefer the rifle to the pods. I've never been a WAAC player, it's more about the aesthetics and the fluff behind an army with me.

I got some more stuff painted up, I'll try to find the time to post pics of the finished units tonight or tomorrow.

Looks great, really like the subdued scheme with flecks or orange

Are you going to add these images to the gallery?

I guess I could, sure.

Here's some more - my first squad of Fire Warriors, that I also feature in my showcase on my blog (http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de). Hope you like them, too.

Very nice work again. I like the colors and how they purposely match the basing.

These are awesome. The grey armour off set against the brown suits works really well

Thanks a lot! I intentionally tried to match bases and look of the minis to enhance the stealthy look.

Glad you guys like them.

Got the next squad of Fire Warriors almost done. I'll take a better pic sometime this week.

It was quite a change, going back to GW models after painting lots of Infinity. Even the slender Fire Warriors are quite chunky compared to an Infinity line infantry trooper.

Got a new showcase article on my blog...for this guy:

He's currently the commander of my Tau force, good ol' Fireknife version with the tiniest of conversions going on.

I'll see if I can take some better pics of the Fire Warriors tonight, then I'll add them, too.

First off, thank you for this. I am attempting to build my own city fighting Tau army with minimal suits.

Second, your painting is amazing, I wish I could pull off something like your beautiful highlights on your stealth suits.
Cheers

@AUGmaniac: Haha, you are most welcome. I just don't want to take more of the boxy looking suits, no matter how great they are on the table. I'd rather take more broadsides, stealth suits and all that jazz. Those look phenomenal. Unfortunately, even the FW suits don't do it for me. I know, I'm picky here. And thank you very much for your kind words.

@Waaazag: Thanks, man, appreciate it.

A new unit is done. My first squad of Pathfinders is painted - can't wait to get them on the table!

For more pictures, please have a look here: http://kungfusedcreations.blogspot.de/2015/07/showcase-tau-pathfinders.html

Hope you like the little guys, now I need to paint up my broadside, so it can profit from all those marker lights.
