So I am confused on transports. So let's say my marine tactical squad takes a drop pod for its transport and a centuries squad takes a land raider for transport. Can the tactical start in the raider and cents in drop pod? Is the pod still objective secure? Thanks

To answer your question I have attached the section of the rule book mentioning dedicated transport. It should have been clear reading it.

For your example: No, you cents can not start in drop pod if purchased as DT's for the squad and vise versa the squad can't deploy in the land raider if purchased for the cents.
How ever, you can later in the game embark in it (pretty useless for drop pod since you would have already landed).

Keep in mind though, that some of the newer Codices allow for Drop Pods to be taken as Fast Attack choices. Blood Angels and Space Wolves, for example, can take Drop Pods, Rhinos, etc. as Fast Attack Choices. Any eligible unit can start deployed in a Fast Attack Choice Drop Pod. Only the selecting unit, and any joined ICs can start in a Dedicated Transport.

When the new Codex: Space Marines inevitably drops in the next several weeks, I'm fully expecting to have the option to take Fast Attack transports added in. In that case, you'll be able to just purchase a Drop Pod as a Fast Attack choice and deploy your Cents via Drop Pod without having to allying in some Space Vampire or Space Werewolf Pods.
