So I'm comparing the following:
Chaos Lord with Mark of Khorne, Sigil of Corruption & Axe of Blind Fury on Juggernaut of Khorne
vs.
Daemon Prince of Khorne with Power Armor, Wings & Axe of Blind Fury
When you compare their stats with each other, the DP comes out on top with +3 WS (9 vs 6), +2 S (with AoBF's strength modifier added, it'll be 8 vs 6) and +3 I (8 vs 5, but the Lord has frags).
The Chaos Lord has +1 LD and a 4++ inv. save which is superior to the DP's choice of either a 5++ inv. in cc, or a 4+ cover if he jinks outside of cc.
The DP has two additional perks: he can deepstrike (not very useful though, given how both units are equally fast and can thus reach cc by turn 2, turn 3 at the latest if they start the game on the battlefield) and he can swoop to avoid gunfire (though this impedes his speed of reaching cc as he needs one turn to change flight modes and can only assault the turn after that)
Finally, we have the Lord's MoK (Rage, Counter Attack) vs. the DP's Daemon of Khorne (Furious Charge, and hatred vs. Slaaneshi daemons)
So all in all, both units are almost equally powerful. The DP's perks over the Lord will barely make a difference in 4 out of 5 combats, except his greater strength which is the most handy bonus (though this will only make a difference when it comes to MCs and armor, as both wound most regular infantry on 2s). When charging into cover the Lord will actually perform better, and whether he is more more survivable due to his better inv. save in cc is debatable, as the DP has his high WS going for him which means upto WS4 infantry hit him on 5s.
Now the reason I made this thread is this: despite the above analysis, the DP is 85 points costlier than the Lord. What gives? Am I missing something?
I doubt the couple extra perks of the DP being an MC (fear, smash, HoW) make up the difference.
