Hi guys,
I pre-ordered my Salamanders Collector's Edition codex last week, with many others. My local store just posted a Facebook status listing customers whos deliveries have arrived for pick up this Saturday. Strangely, my name was not included.
After calling the store, I was informed that all Collector's Editions with Salamanders or Imperial Fists covers, have been delayed a week. They weren't super specific on why, but needless to say, as someone who has paid an extra $100 for their collector's edition, compared to the standard edition, who will now not have their codex until a week later than anybody else walking into a store this Saturday, I am pretty unhappy.
Worse still, Games Workshop as a company seem to have not issued an official statement anywhere, or given any actual notification (I only found out because I rang, if I had not, I can only assume I would have been told once I walked into the store on Saturday morning, shame foranyone who may need to tavel an hour or more to get to their local store).
Has anybody else heard about this?

Probably means that there was a feth up with the shipments somewhere, and they weren't too keen to admit that (assuming you're talking about a local GW store...?).

Just curious. Is your local store a GW or an independent store?

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase. |

It's not exactly unusual for new release codexes to fail to show on time (the US has suffered a fair bit recently due to the dock strike and weather),
but I seem to remember people who suffered because of it getting, for example, a standard codex free to tide them over until the LE arrives so it might well be if you'd driven in they'd have given you something
(these were GW stores rather than independednts)

Probably a customs issue - with bad luck, stuff can always be randomly selected for 'extra checking' and suddenly delayed by another three weeks. Usually people build a few weeks' leeway into their shipments but sometimes it's an unexpectedly long wait. And Australian customs are well known for this sort of thing.

If that stuff came by ship there is a lot that can delay the shipment. Even in our day and age of half-kilometer long supertankers captains are not too keen to sail right through a heavy pacific storm.
That said, my vote is still on "GW hates Australia".

Presumably anyone from Australia who is waiting to buy this can just jump on their private jet to go buy direct from Nottingham, while drinking champagne from their crystal-carved stetson hats on the journey?
