What is the most outrageous thing you have killed/seen killed with a lasgun?

I had 5 guardsmen on a critical objective turn 4, opponents riptide has two wounds left.

He shoots ion blast at them, scatters backward and hits him. Strips a wound.

He decides to charge them then to clear them off the point.

I roll 2 6's on overwatch. Roll 1 6 to wound. He rolls a 1 on his save.


I have never seen so much rage in a player since then.

Kinda bland, but yesterday I was playing a 1250 game at the Casa de-la Red__Thirst with a buddy of mine running Space Marines CAD (Blood Ravens w/ Imp Fist tactics) & Iron Hands Clan Ruukan (Spelling?) supplement allies.

I had one lone Lasgunner (Voxcaster toting Infantry squad member, one of two models left of a 30 man blob, the other being a Flamer carrying infantryman) fire a single shot at an Iron Hand Sergeant in cover, who was the closest model. (I had killed three closer models with other heavier weapons on vehicles shooting just prior to this). This shot was at the extreme range of my shooting, 23" or so away I'll add.

I pick up my dice and Hit, rolling a 5, and I then rolled a 6 to wound to follow up. Opponent attempted to look out sir! to the last remaining squad member on a 4+, he failed this, rolling a 3. He proceeds to roll his 3+ armor save, rolls a 1. Then attempts to roll 6+ Feel No Pain for Iron Hands Chapter Tactics and rolls a 3 again. Sergeant dies, and I achieve my tactical objective for killing a Character during my turn. With a Fething single lasgun shot from across the yard.

He still won the game with 13 tactical objectives to my 10, but it was a very close game over all and had he not denied EVERY psychic test I made (Literally 5 turns of one to two successful psychic checks each phase, he rolled 1 to 2 6's to deny me. It was maddeningly frustrating) I would have likely tied him or possibly beaten him.

5 Grey Knight terminato things dropped next to my rough riders. They kill 6/10 rough riders. The rough riders fire their las pistols at the Grey Knights killing 4 of them (expecting to kill none). Charge the last knight with the 4 of them and win.

A glorious day for the Rough Rider.

You expected to kill a GK Termy with 4 las pistols?

3rd edition 4000pts, A Blood Thrister assaults and destroys a unit in a ruined building. Its sweeping advance brought it out into the open in front of 60 Lasguns. Never even rolled for the special or heavy weapons.

It was beautiful.

Rending auto wounds on 6s regardless of toughness

The psychic ability grants the squad's shots the Rending USR. The rending USR states (Paraphrasing): "For each to-wound roll of 6, the target unit suffers one AP:2 wound" meaning strength and toughness do not matter, a 6 to-wound with the rending URS always wounds at AP:2.

Meaning that the lowly lasgun can indeed now wound something above T:6 with this power (Normally T7+ is immune to ST:3 shooting).

The FRFSRF order, if its a 40+ man squad, would net you ~120 lasgun shots if every model is within 12" of the wraithknight.

Out of ~120 shots, ~60 hit. Out of ~60 hits, you'll get ~10 6's on average. He did a little bit better than average, netting 13 6's. The Wraithknight would die outright if he had no scattershield/invulnerable save (Twin heavy D cannon build).

It was kind of a perfect storm setup for the guard player having the Misfortune power on a psyker near/attached to that blob & able to target the wraithknight. Still, prett epic win in my book.

my old 10 man veterans in chimeras box vs nids. (3 plasma + lascannon) ride blows up after 2 of the plasma guns kill themselves rolling hot.

The exploding chimera kills 3 guys including the lascannon team.

Then a mawlock comes up trying to kill them off the objective and misses. There is now 5 guys left with lasguns and 1 plasma gun. Then the rest of the army shoots the mawlock down to 1 wound. The remaining veteran squad then tries to kill it....plasma overheats again but survives. 4 lasguns roll 2 hits 1 wound. and the mawlock goes down!

I had an Inq retinue filled with psykers. They got charged by three termies, and killed all three. With laspistols. On snap shots. Total enemy defeat followed soon thereafter.

I once had 28 Guardsmen in half range using First Rank Fire Second Rank Fire against 10 Space Marines and they managed the incredible feat of killing 4 of them with their 84 shots!

Yeah... Not very good, But thats the most impressive kill I got with guardsmen.. xD

Drop pod with homing beacon I needed for my T2 deep strikes.

The Rending psykic power can be mast....

Oh man, what haven't I seen lasguns kill? It's a running joke with one of my buddies that he can shoot all the special weapons he wants at me and I won't get a scratch, but that little flashlight will get me every time. I've lost Ork Warbosses, Chaos Lords, Daemon Princes, Sorcerers, and a Phoenix Lord to lasguns. For whatever reason, they have some power over me that makes me fail any and all saves when it comes to lasguns. Especially if it's a single save.

I don't get it. Killing something like bunch of Terminators with lasguns is not noteworthy or special or even that unlikely. Even against big things (like riptides), they're functionally identical to, say, a Marine's power sword, yet they get much more hype.

I've ceased to become impressed when lasguns kill my DP, because it's actually fairly easy to do so.

I guess I have become too jaded by a game that has fluff in which lasguns are A, rules where it is B, and when lasguns kill X biggie in the game it's praised because a mere A weapon killed X!

Not related to lasguns, but I've lost a daemon prince (with 3+) to nothing but a single charge of orc boyz. He was using the supplement and manageg to get HoW... He never even got to roll a single attack as he somehow managed to kill my prince with nothing but hammer of wrath attacks.

So yea, I feel ya XD

Once time in overwatch a regular 10 man squad took out two Necron Wraiths.

I also once had a Infantry squad Sgt challenge Thrakka and punch him in the face bringing him down to one wound. He died shortly after. It took punisher pask, a vulture, and another two infantry squad to get that final woudn off. They did have to chew through some nobs and a painboy. Still that Sgt was a boss.

Lasguns, no, but I will never forget the day a depleted squad of Inquisitorial Stormtroopers took a charge from Plaguebearers on the nose, resisted it, and proceeded to slaughter the daemons to a baccilus.

10 Chaos cultists on objective, firing over watch with their autoguns at 5 death wing terminators.

That objective remained under chaos control.

Dreadknights and a Warboss with 2+ save. Pew pew

Lasguns are for power gamers. Grots and grot blasters vs terminators. That's where both players just stare at the dead termj ators in stunned silence and then both laugh simultaniously.

True story.

I remember the glory of my Ministorum Priests almost single-handedly blunting an Assault Terminator charge. They and their Cannoness were attached to a Black Templar Crusader squad, which the Assault Terminators charged through cover (so they were going last). A Priest accepted the TH/SS challenge, and killed the Terminator Sgt before he could swing (!). The Templars had flubbed everything, so the other Priest stepped up and killed two (!!) Lightning Claw Termies with his trust Chainsword. Cannoness killed another with her Eviscerator, and the 5th one fled from combat (!!!) only to run straight into the immolating arms of a Dominion Squad armed with Melta's which were lurking in his deployment zone lol. The Light of The Emperor surely shone upon His favoured that day.

Well, how about a squad of Dominions with two Priests taking an assault out of a Land Raider from a tooled-up Chaos Lord backed up by a unit of Gal Vorbak and reducing them to a single wounded Chaos Lord before they could be wiped out?

Priests are just... yeah.

I once had a squad of ten guardsmen beat a squad of Death Company in an assault.

Those boys got promotions and then executed for fighting a Space Marine.
