I'm having a mindblock. I want to play the new Space Marines without Drop Pods ( perhaps just ONE with a Culexus in it ) but am having a difficult time of getting a really competitive list going, or moreso locking in my choices as there are so many. There are a few things:

- I'd like to utilize rhinos or razorbacks
- I don't want to play more than 2 bike units
- Battlecompany is out of the question

I'm guessing White Scars or Ultramarines CT's would work, as WS gives transports scout and Ultramarines ( especially with Tigurius ) can make Tactical Squads do some work. I'd also like to use an Imperial Knight, but it's not necessary. If you guys can throw out some ideas, or even lists ( 1850 ) that are highly competitive then that would be great.

Since they're obviously going to end up footslogging, might as well do Red Scorpions Chapter Tactics.
Iron Hands could work for helping replenish HP's, but that could be slow (Repair + IWND doesn't exactly guarantee anything).

Well your restrictions are kind of hamstringing your request.

Competitive builds in SM are:
Centstars
Drop pod spam
Bikers
Battle company msu spam with free stuff.

There are other builds you can make that do okay on LGS tables, but those aren't going to be carrying you to a big event top table anytime soon.

Scouts are cool, but they're more of "lettuce" whereas the above themes are the "meat."

Perhaps I'd have to look into a battlecompany MSU build then, with an oathsworn detachment.

I've played so many bike and pod armies that I just can't be arsed with them for the 5th time.

I'm thinking a razorback MSU spam battlecompany with Ultramarine CT's for the massive amount of doctrines.

If you want something different, you could play a list with a lot of scout squads. I think one got 2nd in a major tournament recently. I think some mix of LSS and sniper scouts could do decently (mobile obsec as well as 2+ cover when going to ground in ruins obsec), but I don't have a lot of experience in this area.

Vanguard Vets are pretty nice in the new codex. For 27 points you can have a guy with a jump pack and a power weapon. (So 135 for 5 man units with 5 power weapons).

Personally, I want to run the CM on bike with shield eternal, etc. with a command squad and IH tactics since that now gives them 4+ FNP. On the other hand, the command squad is still expensive when you give them stuff and ultimately that squad should not be overly expensive or it will never make back its points.

Use the Gorgons chain, get that test 3+++. Roll on the Raukaan traits, get 2+++ 1/6 of the time.

Roll in tears of everything that is not strength ten or a force weapon.

Is there a permanent stickied thread for Chaos players to complain every time someone/anyone gets models or rules besides them? If not, there should be.
