The Salamanders apothecary Shen grants his unit a 4+ fnp whilst the new IH get +1 to fnp rolls. So Shen with any Iron Hands unit grants them a 3+ fnp.
Who would it work best with?
-Assault termis for a t4 2+/3++/3+++?
-Grav cents for a t5 2w IWND 2+/3+++?
-Grav devs for t4 3+/3+++?
The most durable this could possibly make a unit is if given to a tac squad from the assault vanguard list with manlets. Giving them a 3+ rerollable save, followed by a 3+++, that gives only a 1 in 27 chance of a wound getting through the saves. Supplement with some form of cover/shrouded/stealth and they become the most durable troops in the game. Only problem is that their damage output is limited to 1 grav cannon, a combi-weapon, a plasma gun and a plasma pistol (from shen). Maybe somewhere to put the librarius conclave? The first three auto have the damage output.
Which is best for shen to join in your opinion? Automatically Appended Next Post: (Obviously done cheaper but less effective with a sanguinary priest)

Except that all units lost their chapter tactics when in a combined unit with more than 1 chapter tactic.
Command squads can take Apothecarys and you can ally in Blood Angel Sang Priests and keep the chapter tactics since Blood Angels don't have "Chapter Tactics" USR. Supposedly Clan Raccoon is still good, too, so you can still take a Chapter Smashfether with Gorgon's chain for an 2+/3++/3+++ or a 2+++ if you get the fnp warlord trait. Still loses FNP to anything str8+ (even with eternal warrior) so may be smart to out them on bikes

Awww have not picked up on that morsel in any of the reviews. Would have thought that wouldn't be a thing to slip under the radar for reviews! Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Sanguinary priests it is then for a 4+ fnp instead.
As to Smashfether, put him on a bike. No cancelling out fnp until st10 then.

Working on a new list using smashy and dante with a priest in a big unit of sanguinary guard. Bunch of dudes with 2+/5+++ led by 8 wounds of eternal warrior, one with a 2+/4++/5+++ and the other with t5 IWND and a 2+/3++/4+++. Oh, and the whole thing has hit and run.

Warlord trait doesn't give +1 FNP, it gives FNP. Or am I missing something?

Clan Raukaan's Warlord trait gives +1 to your FNP. That's how we got 2+ FNP last edition. With the new CT you can get a 1+ FNP on the bearer of the Gorgon Chain, providing he is also the Warlord.
