Im just curious because its perfectly fine to talk about politics in multiple different threads, its perfectly fine to talk about random BS in multiple different threads, but god forbid I ask a very specific question about a very BROAD subject (Hockey) and more specifically trade rumors, and my thread gets closed. SO does that mean If I go and make a politics thread and a current events thread that people can no longer make topics in regards to any of those topics and will instead have to post in those threads? just curious because the rules are very hard to interpret, especially since every mod in here has very different interpretations of the rules they are supposed to enforce.

As to actually answer you, sports threads are traditionally jumped on pretty quickly from what I can tell, unless it is a big deal that would break the basic thread. So the thread about the patriots a while back and their cheating and the fines etc? That wouldn't go into a football thread, because good luck talking about how your team did on Friday when everyone else is screaming about that.

Politics etc, recently(ish) we had threads made for UK politics in the lead up to their election, and US politics for the general mess that happens in those threads. We usually move politics topics for the US in there, to keep things a bit neater. As this does differ from mod to mod, or thread to thread, it is never going to be 100% consistent, but by and large it does happen. Hope that helped clear things up

Because it was a hockey post, and we have a hockey thread on this very front page.

No offense but that is a silly way to run a forum entitled "Off topic" if you can't make off topic posts unless you post in a specific thread where your comments will basically get lost and you wont get the answers or discussion you wished to get going.

Say it came to trading season in Hockey, and everyone wanted to make a post about their favourite player who was moving and we let them, that would be equally silly.

It is just the way we have chosen to run the OT. The OT also isn't the main reason the forum exists remember, that's why it's a) way down the bottom and b) just one subforum.

But it is not trade season just yet and Phil Kessel is one of the top 5 players who a large amount of discussion is currently going on about him being traded. He is arguably #1 and the team that eventually gets him will be infinitely better for the trade.

So how does that compare to the NUMEROUS OT that are about minor politics BS that doesn't really involve more then a handful of people?

So their is a double standard here.

Posters who discuss anime, comic books and more manage to keep themselves to one thread, and if they don't, they at least don't create extra threads complaining when their extra threads get locked and the discussion returns to where it belongs.

At the moment there are threads on movies, tv shows, general topics (anime, comic books, NHL, politics), organisational issues (state department, fbi, homeland security), criminal acts (pizza, bloke shooting up a cop station), exercise, and other random stuff. Your thread was unnecessary and fit perfectly well into the NHL thread. Take a leaf out of the anime/comic book posters' books and just adjust to the way things are run.

I don't feel they fit in the same way as the others, and since you wont listen to my opinion i'll just post on a different site about hockey

So its "let me post the threads I want about hockey regardless of how it is normally handled or else I won't talk about it here".
