The Kastelan Robot is probably the ugliest model that Games Workshop has ever produced. I have a bet going with a buddy that I could make the dude look fierce -- if I win, he buys me a box set of my choice If not, well... uh... I'm stuck with a box of Kastelan Robots LOL. The domed head is turned around and slightly sunken a little bit, with a gradient added to the bottom to give it a bit of life (and the back filled in with GS). The arms are taken off of a Furioso Dreadnought. I cut the front part of the cannon off, carefully cut the guns off of the two twin-linked phosphor blasters and combined them into a single weapon on the right arm. It never really made sense to me to have a twinlink on two separate arms anyhow. I also mounted the carapace phosphor blaster directly onto the back; I never liked the way it looked attached onto the backpack, as it always looked like it was "hanging by a thread". As a bonus, the Furioso parts are very decal friendly This also gave me a chance to try out the Martian Ironearth, finally! As always, I appreciate any comments, suggestions and constructive criticism!

Lovely paint work as is your norm. I must say that the Dreadnought melee shoulder looks out of place and the connection between arm and body looks awkward and weak.
The gun conversion is well achieved and looks better as it is more static and it doesn't lead you to think about how it would need to articulate like the melee arm does.

Hmmm...
Elds brings up a good point. The melee arm looks a little off, just the way the flat inside of the way the shoulder looks in contrast to the arc of the "collarbone". The square shoulders give him a good look. I don't know how you'd reconcile the starkness of the change though...
Maybe it's the pic too, sometimes things can look out of proportion in a photo, but then you hold the thing in your hand and it looks fine.
Really cool robot though! I especially like the minimalist base.

Yeah, I like the pain job, but a few of the joins (arms to body, feet to base) just look weird and unsupported. The arms join isn't helped by the massive blank area on the inside of the dread arm.
I would have shaved down the sides of the body to make it flatter created a circular 'mounting ring' and then disguised the join win a ton of GS cabling....

I like it, just the tiny feet seem a bit off to me. Maybe something squareish to go with the shoulders?

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

Thanks for the input guys! I have another robot in the box, maybe I'll fiddle with that some, hehehe. By the way, Arbitorlan, the joint for the Kastelan is actually quite a bit larger than the joint for the Dreadnought. I had to dremel out a much larger mounting ring to fit it. Eldarain & darkcloak, I hear ya. The original arm, too, is awkward and is fixed at a dumb angle. I despise the original guns which make no sense. Even less so that they are suppsed to be Twink-linked Heavy Phosphor blasters, yet they a fraction of the size of the shoulder mounted Heavy Phosphor blaster -- in the original scale, it's like a plasma pistol vs a plasma cannon. And even for a robot who would saw off two arms to put on two stubby little things. The left hand, by the way (on my version) is intended to be a functional grabbing tool rather than a CC weapon, since he can only take the TL blasters or the power fists. I really hate this model, LOL.
