This is a concept I've had for a while. I'm just wondering how realistic it could be. In terms of fairness, enjoyment, etc. See below for the details.

I would play all currently released Primarchs, and my opponents would play whatever 40k army they have.

I would be restricted to using the only Primarchs, and even then only the ones with models (so no Magnus, for now anyway). The points cost would be absurd for sure.

My opponents would be allowed to field as much as they felt was necessary. Since my side is essentially Unbound, so too could those of my opponents. Really, I would not mind if they wanted to bring a squadron of Baneblades or Obelisks. If anything, it would give ME a challenge - that's the point of all this.

I have tried this previously, back with only four Primarchs (Horus, Fulgrim, Angron, Mortarion). I used proxies to represent them. Their total cost came to roughly 1700, so my two opponents (who fielded Tyranids and 40K Astartes) had the same amount each.

Hilarity ensued...
- Mortarion absorbed 2 rounds of shooting from Termagaunts (zero damage), then proceeded to one-hit KO the Swarmlord
- Angron tore through squads of Astartes
- All of them got damaged a few times, but managed to IWND their lost wounds back.

I don't particulary see the point of such an endeavour but primarchs leading their legions using 30k rules aren't as good as 40k chapetrs/warbands which is upsetting

Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

Primarchs walking around on their own die very quickly. One lucky (or unlucky for the Primarch) D-weapon hit and you're gone. High strength spam can erase them, and so on. Fulgrim, in particular, is really vulnerable to shooting (with only a 5++ against shooting), but he is a beast in CC.

In 30K, Primarchs are brought into an army for two things: first and foremost for their army-wide buffs, and a distant second for their beatstick ability.

Like Ceann Fine said, the distance between the power levels of 30K and 40K is only getting bigger with all the formation buffs, allies, and so on in 40K.

"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

I don't really see the point of this. Since you're letting your opponents choose what to bring you can almost guarantee that they're either going to bring too little and get slaughtered or bring too much and effortlessly wipe your primarchs off the table. And if you use all of the primarchs at once you run into problems with people not having enough models to reach an equivalent point total.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Is there any non-Titan model in 40k who can beat Lorgar Transfigured in melee? (Assuming he picks precognition and misfortune)

He may be 450 points, but he is 450 points of pure murder.

It's not about beating him 1on1, its about how easily 450 points of models could kill him

Hmmm... Two grav devs in a pod are 490pts. I think that would kill him.
