Should i make an videogame plot centered around an imperial guard sarge and submit it to games workshop. It would be 3rd person like space marine and ive been working on the idea for some time.

Sure, as long as you don't hold your breath for them to get back to you. >_>

If you want to get started in indie or fan game development, Unity3D might be a thing to look into. There are also a lot of forums where people share tips and things on how to make games.

I'm pretty sure some of the forums out there are for game writers and designers as well!

If you want to try making actual, playable games on your own, using just text and/or pictures, Twine and RenPy can help make that happen.

If you want to try putting your stories in words, Fanfiction.net and Archive of Our Own let you post 40k fanfics.

There are also pen-and-paper RPG systems you can use, like Fantasy Flight Games' Only War or the free Fate Core System.

They made the creators of the Damnatus fanmovie pull it because of how Germany's copyright law worked. There's another one called The Lord Inquisitor that has trailers on YouTube already.

I don't know how they feel about fangames, but fanwork seems to be okayish these days?

EDIT: I am not a lawyer, and this is not legal advice! Also the apparent reason The Lord Inquisitor is okay is because its creator(s) aren't based in Germany.

If you want them to

1. assume ownership of your idea,
2. never produce it, and
3. never get back to you on it

then yes. By all means.

GW don't produce their own video games. Simply sending them a game idea isn't going to get it anywhere

Now, I don't mean this to come across as nasty or aggressive, but you are hopelessly naive and uneducated about how video games and video game making works in the real world.

First of all, you don't just submit an idea to a company. For one, they don't take them for a whole galaxy of legal reasons that you are not big enough to handle. And two, they give their IP to people who actually have the infrastructure to make games, not some guy with a storyline.

Also, not to put too fine a point on it, but you and everyone else has a great 'storyline' for a video game.

I too have a great idea for a video game. However, if i simply sent an email and outlined the idea for them they would either:

A: ignore me because my idea sucks, they've heard it a million times.

B: see its a fantastic idea, and simply take that idea and publish it and give you ZERO credit because an idea without a patent is nothing

or C: ignore you because they ignore everyone

Everyone plus their cousin has an idea for the next big game. Make concept art, gameplay, and actual progress then submit said idea, to GW
