Ok, so, lesson learned. Don't play the Advanced Gunnery mission against an Ackbar list when you have the initiative...

Gladiator Star Destroyer, killed in one round.
Victory Star Destroyer crippled in one round
Imperial Star Destroyer crippled in one round.

Ouch...

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

'Played' a game of X-wing against the Mark 13 AI app. Unlike a lot of games, I find playing solo is actually quite helpful and enjoyable; the fact that, AI or real opponent, everything is based on a set list of options means I don't actually have to make any decisions for the 'opposing' team, and it gives me a chance to 'learn' how to fly* the ships I'll (hopefully) eventually be using against actual opponents. That, and it's just a damn fun game.

*Something that, judging by the amount of rocks I crashed into, I still don't have the hang of... I might have to retire the large-base Falcon for the time being, as I slammed into that with my own ships a fair few times as well.

What you need, Paradigm, is to use the Outrider and Dash Rendar instead of the Falcon.

"You may ignore obstacles in the activation phase and when performing actions."

Admittedly, you still can't shoot if you're on top of an asteroid but every little helps.

Dash and Coran are amazing, probably one of the more entertaining builds I've tried and I probably screwed it up. The big ship flies around turreting everybody to death, and Horn alternates between double shooting and stacking defense tokens. The freighter is easier to gun down earlier on, but the E-wing as piloted by Horn is a really brutal end game ship.

Large ships are tricky in general too though... You have to remember when you move things you're moving the base too, and large ships have twice as big of a base so for the ships to move the same distance the large ship has to move 1 range shorter.

Me? Today? Not much. Still struggling with a good 1k then 2k orc list for KoW from my collection. And trying to decide if this metal krudger on boar can fit any of my dragons or similar.

been building a mix of warmahorde stuff i've had sitting in a drawer
just finished up a cygnar reliant-which i hadn't realized was plastic on a sprue, which was neat, at first
then i got to building it and realized the vents on some parts were poorly placed, and the plastic seems to hate my superglue, so i ended up using greenstuff to help keep it together
on the other hand, the metal/resin mixed cygar kits i fooled with today were awesome

Wow!

Only three pages of additions in like three or four months!

Today, painting WWII Naval vessels (CA: USS San Francisco, CL: HIJMS Nagara, DDs: USS Laffey & HIJMS Ayanami)

And painting Thunderbolt Mountain Goblins (from which I took a break after coming into a hoard of WWII 1/700 ships), as well as trying to finish up the sculpting of the Lesser Goblins (for which I needed to buy another 16GB of RAM). In any event, I am going to have to do the chainmail on most of them by hand.

To be fair, we did just come through the holiday months, so I suspect that may have contributed to a perceived lull.

Also, some folks are undoubtedly like me, where I don't constantly post what I'm doing each day here, but may tend to post the beginning of larger things, ie. starting a new army or something.

Speaking of... I've been working on, and will continue working on the first marine of my new marine army: "classic" Fire Hawks.

I say classic, because Im using the "imperial fist yellow" armor scheme, with red flames/markings for the army. The list is being worked on still, but it centers around the FW character and chapter tactics, which I hope folks at my store won't mind playing against (not least because flame template weapons tend to have rather marginal success against the local meta)

There is not this idea.

I found a chaos warrior from hero quest! This is always surprising, because my sisters and I played that game a lot as kids, and basically... destroyed it. Very little survives.

But occasionally a piece pops up in a garage or a box in my parent's basement. In this case, he was in the box of a game called Careers. I guess we were using it as a replacement piece?

Batman game is finished!

21 victory points for Two Face to 8 for Batman.

Highlights include Deathstroke doing a run at Batman on the second turn, inflicting 8 stun damage (out of 9 endurance) in one attack. - Many 1's and 2's were rolled on the Bat's defences..
Deathstroke then followed up to knock him out next turn. Unfortunately, got super shot at the next round and got taken out and actually arrested himself. Meanwhile, Batman got medpack'ed....

This is all because I didn't read the Acrobat rules properly.
Agent Ron shot at Deathstroke, had a really good roll, inflicted a bunch of damage AND knocked him down.
Comes to next round, Deathstrokes on the floor, I try to stand up and he gets 'whistled' by Agent Ron.
Meaning, no movement points could be spent. So, basically, I'm stuffed and don't even look at his abilities because the rulebook says "no traits may be used while knocked down."
Then it turns out, Acrobat lets Deathstroke stand up for free, so no issue.

Basically, Deathstroke got murderised in short order.

I... also may have accidentally shot one of my own dudes on the last turn with Two Face...

So yeah, Batman is still a fun game, lots of awesome moments. But seriously, that's a "shed"load of special rules and stuff you need to remember for a game. And the Spanglish doesn't help at points too. On the other hand, it feels very, very Batman....

Sounds kinda neat. Is it really that surprising that one of twoface's guys went down to friendly fire?

Nope, not really surprising at all. I decided it was worth the risk, not losing as many points from killing them as I could gain from knocking out Batman...

Again...

Basically, the plan kinda worked, I got the other team all freaking out about Deathstroke rampaging around the board, that Two Face and a couple of his buddies sneaked round the side and grabbed all the loot!

Finished off a Soviet mortar platoon, all ten bases of them including command, starting a plastic Strelkovy box, all six frames of them, which will see three rifle/mg and one HMG platoon take to the table to boost the metal stuff I have.

Also toying about with some more Team Yankee bits in the background.

Event season coming up for me so need to get a platoon and a bit done per week if they will be ready in time.

Also wondering on what to take to Rushed Rumble, likely the last 8th edition event I go to, has to be Thangrot's last heroic stand...
